Nobody moaned when Henry wouldn't take penalties he won so to single out Nasri is unfair in my opinion.

I don't agree that Chamakh should have taken it because he is a striker. Some people fancy penalties, others don't.

Most great strikers are instinctive and taking a penalty isn't an instinctive thing.

nasri is a central attacking midfielder or simply a central midfielder. he and rosicky and cesc best positions are exactly the same, but we only have room for one player like that, so both SN8 and TR7 play in the wings, where they always contribute a lot less.

they're not a pires or a ljungberg, they're much more of a cesc or a dennis. and both are excellent players.

Agreed, apart from his woeful penalty. I thought Rosicky was one of our better players today; don't understand why he comes under such heavy criticism when the likes of Nasri and Arshavin put in many abject performances but seem to escape it.
Rosicky did quite well to be fair, but had no business taking the penalty. He wasn't the designated penalty taker and honestly I don't remember one he's taken certainly not in the last two or three years.

Thats cos he's been on the treatment table and not on the pitch for the last two to three years

i thought he played well today, so did Nasri, just feel Chamakh should have taken the penalty as, its already been said, he's the striker but nevermind, whats done is done, we got a point which was probably deserved.

I also think Nasri and Rosicky had good games, Rosicky was the reason for any play at all after a dreadfully limp first half.

Not sure I agree that Nasri bottled, maybe he was hurt and thought someone sharper would score.

The sending off was a key moment, yes it was harsh but Song repeatedly fouls in most games so it was always going to happen eventualy, thought we defended well for the rest of the game and is not something we can say about Wenger's recent flimsy model so that is promising, end of the day though if you are down to 10 men then you just can't miss a pen with 15 mins to go.

Wenger also went on to say, that he thinks that because nasri was fouled for the penalty thats why he probably didnt take it.

just like when th14 never used to take them when he was fouled.

Penalties are a rhythm thing in the sense that if you feel good and positive about them at that moment then go for it. If Sam felt any doubt then so be it to leave well alone. To call him a bottler when probably none of us know him is a fair big shout.
Oh and by the way at least on my last visit to a football ground i am sure that there are goals at either end of the pitch and teams do have the ability to score goals aswell. Bad finish to a game lets move on.

I don't understand why if he doesn't take it he "bottled it" or "is a bottler", but if he steps up and scores, he is "showing a lot of bottle"..

Some of the best penalty takers have been defenders, Lee Dixon and Lauren to name but two of our own have taken some, why don't Sagna or Clichy step up more?

That Lauren penalty against T*ttenham (2001-02 I think) was the weakest penalty I have ever seen struck that went in ! Kasey Keller jumped out the way as it trickled apologetically over the line.

It was the winning goal and big 3 points that day on the way to the double.

Even Man utd, who people on here cream themselves over by the fact that they are supposedly far more superior to us with their fantastic team who has unbelievable strenght in depth, have given away leads twice this season by conceding in the last minute and failing to kill off teams. Happened against Fulham, and again to Everton.

People on this forum can't seem to give credit when it is due. Nasri and Rosicky ran our midfield when Cesc had to go off injured. Bad attitude from Song got him a 1st yellow, but I still don't think his second was a card at all, but still, people will blame him, not the crappy ref. So what if Nasri didn't take the penalty? If I was #1 to do something at work and at that moment felt my team-mate better qualified to do it, I wouldn't have a problem asking him to do it. We seem to forget that Nasri almost just got off the operating table and played a blinder midweek, was good in pre-season, yet still want to label him as a "doesn't play away from home" player. FFS grow up. I'm sure he is.

PS: Also remember Sunderland hasn't lost a game in the PL in 2010, so I think our boys did well even though I expected a win.
