song was doing a specific job as he has been to date.its a typical continental trick but our refs wont tollerate it.break the play up,slow them down ,a little petty tap here and there.a tactic deployed against us in europe and at home .problem is when song does it he gobs off and makes it obvious he needs to be crafty,its somethingwe do need but he should watch the itallians and get some guille.

No complaints about the result as frankly we were gifted a freak goal, never played well enough to create too much and couldn't kill them off so looked vunerable.
Positives
Almunia played well
both Kos and Squillaci were great as was Chamahk.
Negatives
Arshavin, poor, poor, poor.
Song, hasn't learnt yet that blocking someone is a foul.
Won't blame the ref as you have to defend properly for the entire match (gael) - putting it out for another corner would have done just fine.
You can't blame Denilson for getting to the edge of their box and having a shot - if it was RVP, Cesc, etc people would say unlucky nearly sealed the points, because its Denilson (and I am not his biggest fan) they use him as a scapegoat.

Finally back on my computer after a cracking night out. Good game, close as expected without many clear cut chances and in the end a fair result imo. First half I thought we had more of the play, but didnt really create much, second half arsenal were the better side, especially after the sending off. Obviously the Arsenal goal was fortunate but that's what Ferdinand gets for fucking around and not just clearing the ball when he got it. One hell of an end to the game and, despite a fairly poor atmosphere for much of the game, the stadium sounded as if it was about to take off when Bent scored
I thought the sending off was harsh- the second foul was a booking imo, steed has put it past him and we were looking to get forwards and I think when you stop a move like that you have to expect a booking, the first one was never a yellow though. The only thing is, since getting back I have watched the MotD highlights, and when the first foul is committed, Dowd just seems to point for a free kick, he doesnt look as if he is going to book Song. Then, Song reacts to the decision and at this point, Dowd seems to look pissed off and pulls out the yellow, so I think the booking was for his reaction rather than for the foul. Still harsh though
Anyway, for what its worth (not much I know!) here is my views on the Arsenal players
Almunia- hard to give a rating to Almunia tbh since we didnt get many crosses in and only had 3 shots on target. Did nothing wrong though. 7
Clichy- wasn't as effective as I thought he would be, looked lightweight on occasions and didn't get forward much 5
Squillaci- had a very good game and, along with Koscielny, kept us quiet. We weren't getting enough people forward to help Benty, but nonetheless, and impressive performance 8
Koscielny- pretty much as above 8
Sagna- played well. Got forward a fair bit and put in a couple of good crosses, and was solid defensively, looks to be getting better every time I watch him tbh 8
Song- as mentioned, the sending off was harsh and, up until that point, he was having an effective game and was doing a good job of breaking down a lot of our play. 6 (just because he was sent off, would be a 7 otherwise)
Wilshere- not his best game by any means, but obviously the lad is only young so it isnt going to happen every time for him, thought he struggled to get to grips with the game and wasn't able to influence it 6
Nasri- I like Nasri, very comfortable on the ball as always, and was constantly looking to create chances for Chamakh and Arshavin, I had been hoping that he would hide away from home but to be fair to the lad he always seemed to want possession 8
Fabregas- shame to see him pick up a knock and he was having a decent game, including his very fortunate goal! Hope its nothing serious and he's back soon 7
Arshavin- quite easily the worst Arsenal player on show. Didn't seem to put much effort in and was constantly waiting for the ball to come to him rather than going and getting it. Had a couple of good chances and missed them, strikes me as a very hit and miss player and you really need to see him start being more hit than miss if he is to have a positive influence on the side this season 4
Chamakh- was a handful for our defence and holds the ball up well, looks a very composed player and I think he will help keep you challenging for the title this season. I can imagine he will get good supply from Fabregas and Nasri, so this could be a very productive season for the lad 8
Denilson- came on and did very well. I think he was a big part of the reason that Arsenal looked the more threatening side after being reduced to 10, tidy passes, high workrate, and was unlucky not to grab himself a goal late on. I've seen the lad get criticised a lot on here, but in the relatively short time he spent on the pitch, I think he was one of Arsenal's best players yesterday 8
Rosicky- obviously missed the penalty badly, but other than that I thought he was a fairly positive influence on the side and certainly showed more willingness than Arshavin. Quality player is Rosicky, I was surprised he didn't start the game to be honest, a soild game overall 7
I also thought I would spoil you and took a photo of Eboué, so dont say I never treat you!
Anyway, obviously it will have been gutting to lose a goal so late on, but I hope those that made the trip up had a good time, I'm sure we will give you the customary 3 points when we meet at the Emirates, so it isnt all bad

That's not true. surprised ( unless i've missed it) there's been no mention of gooners fighting amongst themselves in the foyer before the game. The place was bouncing as usual untill 5 or 6 guys kicked off for some reason, there were no stewards or police and they just got on with it, 5 mins later a dozen police came marching up to look at the blood on the floor and write stuff in there little books.It killed the atmosphere in the foyer and put a bit of a dampner on things for a while. I guess 5.30 kick offs gives too long in the pub so this can happen, but it's not good watching gooners knocking lumps out of each other..............some decent punches thrown though

All to do with some guy cheering when the spuds result was announced, three arsenal fans took objection, and got jumped by a group of six. very unsavoury but the three lads took it well and survived the 90 whereas i think the others got ejected!
