Hoyte was very impressive and maybe the stand-in centre back while Toure is away.
Giberto was the worst player on the pitch!!

And thank god for Theo's goal, I kno he was a but shit 2nite but the movement for that goal was excellent.

augie, what planet are you on mate? Spurs have put out their strongest team and only managed a draw against a weakened and basically reserve Arsenal team. Yes Diaby is arrogant and I fucking love him for it 8) Bendtner lazy? I don't think so, do you really think a lazy player could hide within any Arsenal team ? We should have been knocked out of this competition months ago yet we are only 90 minutes and a one nil win away from another final, why the fuck are you complaining :?: :?: :?:

A poor performance. Not a single player who I could say had an outstanding game, while there were quite a few that were rather poor...

Fabianski looked alright in goal, but a bit shaky when he came out to collect a couple of times.

Defence, Midfield and Strikers were all of their game, but Sagna seemed to pick things up a bit when he came on down the right flank.

In all though, even playing like we did, the spuds still couldn't put us away with their top team who were playing better than usual!

Why was our defence so high up? We got away with it till the goal due to poor Spurs finishing and Senderos making a few fine tackles but we were going to pay for it eventually and we did. We could also use losing one defensive midfielder for a more attacking one as if we have Diaby on the left then we end up with two defensive midfielders which doesn't seem to work.

Keep the youth players for the second leg, we got lucky today (felt a little sorry for Lee there) but what is going to WHL but a challenge to overcome.

Oh...and Johan Djourou?

The way Wenger took him off at half time I doubt he'll be the CB starting alongside Gallas.

I am complaining wayno cos we were shit tonight and everybody on this thread up to your response has said so. As i said I could accept that we played shit cos you get performances like that but I dont accept a lack of commitment or drive and again I dont think anybody could disagree that they worked far far harder than we did and on our own patch that is not good enough

I am upset cos I see a squad that is still short in quality in some areas and this was exposed tonight and while it is only the carling cup these are the players that we will be looking to cover injuries, suspensions and the anc in a very important title bid. We need to bring in at least 2 high quality players and I know I am sounding like a stuck record but thats what games like this tell me

augie, I do understand your frustration but lets not get carried away here. If Wenger wanted to ensure a victory he would have put out a stronger side, but laughably Wenger does not see spuds worthy of our first team. Yes some players could have played with more passion but I have come away from this game with what I wanted, and that was our home record intact.

thought denilson was one of our worst players, alongside theo and gilberto, whilst i have no doubt that gilberto's form is to do with his lack of matches i do feel the other to need to take a long look at them selves esp theo he really isnt doing it. denilson is now on a run of bad performances in my eyes aswel.

as for diaby playing poorly i though along with senderos and esp hoyte he was one of the better players in wat was a dyer performance.

in all fairness i agree with wayno!
lets be honest if we look at the team we had no starting keeper in manuel, we had big phil, djourou who has been playing at brum for far to long on tonights performance but with time he will find some form he had for us like last season, hoyte who has rarely featured for us this season and is showing reasons why this trend shoudlnt continue, bac came on at half time and gave us a boost, gilbo, denilson, theo, diaby, bendtner and rvp(who needs a little more time).
that in all fairness is not our starting 11 in any way, but yet they can still hold 90 minutes against the scum, concede one whihc is what our first 11 did twice in the league.
but we all expect so much from these players when lets be fair if at any club wouldnt even be discovered by now.
drawing at home to sp*rs is a very painful experience but this is a two leg tie and at the end of the 90 minutes at the shithole hopefully the team can produce something us gooners can be proud of.
i think the big picture is what would we rather focus on winning, the league cup or the league title, if it were me im sure i would choose the premiership everytime.
so lets move on and hope for 3 points on saturday!
up the arse

thought it was a decent result tonite against their first team who dominated but didnt look especially dangerous against our reserves tho i do agree that diaby is too lazy and needs to stop trying to run through everyone and bendtner had an off day. The others were collectively very average apart from a few important tackles from the perenially dodgy senderos and a good performance from hoyte.

these are details though cause we didnt loose to the scum when we should have and wer still very much in this tie. cup very much half full!!!

Fellow Gooners, I understand your frustration at tonight's performance (and, I suppose, result). However, let's put this in context; if someone told you we'd lose 4-0 at the Shit Hole in a couple of weeks time but go on to win the league, wouldn't you take it? I'm not saying we'll win the league, but I'm trying to stay positive.

Still, if that didn't do the trick. I did a bit of research for you lot to try and cheer some of you up. Don't say I don't do anything for ya!

League – 08/04/00 – Arsenal 2-1 Spuds

As my father said, Spurs are going to need to score at least two to knock us out at WHL because they are bound to concede at least one.
