Almunia Out Camaign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Its Wenger we should be aiming this at.
if you think about it this is pretty much aimed at wenger as aposed to my facebook page which is aimed at the clown himself.

its a site dedicated on getting almunia out of our club, should also mention 2 or 3 other players on the website as well.

As a keeper he has to go

But guys are we not destroying him with this constant hammering of him?

Yes we do have a crap keeper, but there is not much choice between now and January 1st...

Flaps is ...Flaps
Mannone is....grrr
Chesney is...untried...

I guess its Chesney
That might prove a bit too long-winded for a website name, sammy. And you also forgot the suffix.

Any suggestions - my initial thoughts were

almunianomore.com

Anyone other suggestions?

Rob.
Out of interest, what would you hope to achieve with a website? Not having a go or anything like, just curious.
something to do with getting almunia out? :P

maybe if we get enough people behind it wenger will do something about our useless spanish waitor
To be honest, I don't think you get to be one of Europe's top managers by listening to what fans say on a website, so I'm not too sure that it will really help to make Wenger's mind up regarding his goalkeeper. Like I say, each to their own, if people want to make a website about it then fair enough, but it won't change Wenger's mind- more likely it will just be picked up by the media and twisted to show the Arsenal fans up as not being supportive of their side, and of being spoiled etc. Would just be interesting to see what Rob wants and expects from it, especially when bearing in mind that you are stuck with the lad until at least January and don't exactly have quality keepers at the club at the minute pushing for his place.

Agree with safcftm. Although I would say that the press have already picked up on the fans' discontent and indeed (for once) share our views on the goal-keeping position.

I made the same point on another thread that the media will take this and run with it rather than the club directly. As a group we may come out of this looking like spoilt kids not getting their way. I still dont agree with it but you gotta do and all that.
The keepers are there till Xmas so whatever happens can we back them till then?
Stay positive people.

It would be good if we all sat next to each other at the Grove then maybe we could produce a little banner or chant aimed at Wenger, but I don't think my neighbours at the Grove would approve if I did it on my own.

I am fully behind any campaign to get that waste of skin booted from the club! Same goes for Flappy!!

But then another side of me thinks that it's not Almunias fault that he is so awful. That tit Wenger should have suitable replaced our abysmal keepers.

I went to the game yesterday, and was right behind the goal. I can safely say that my sunday league keeper would put on a much better performance than Almunia. He was utterly shambolic, as were the whole team in general.

I want my money back for my ticket!

Meh, it worked with Adebayor. No regrets from me there.
Hardly the same. He was a mercenary tosser who put himself in the same bracket as Henry and held out for £80k plus per week before doing absolutely fuck all.

Manuel's a decent bloke. The only answer to getting him out is to put more pressure directly on the shoulders of the GIC. He picks the team - if someone is not good enough then the buck stops there

Personally I dont give a flying fcuk if the media run with this or not and there is no way we will come out of this as spoilt when everybody watching english football knows how shit we are in the keeper options  I agree 100% that the majority of the anger should be directed at wenger but for some stupid reason too many fans are afraid to oppose wenger publicly so getting at wenger by targetting a player that has made far too many fcuk ups is ok with me 8)

Personally I am sick to the teeth that there appears to be no accountability anymore with anybody at our club - when the players make their regular balls up they are not held accountable by wenger and he actually publicly backs them, when wenger makes his many fcuk ups he is not held accountable and dragged over the coals by the board and of course the board are not held accountable for anything by anybody   Watch and see how quick wenger and/or the players take the fans to task for barracking one of our players......seems like the people earning all the fcuking money are walking away scot free but the people spending their hard earned money on the club will be held to higher standards

Augie - 9 times out of 10 I'm in agreement with you mate but I still don't understand how actually abusing Almunia can improve things. What will it actually achieve ?

1. Will it make Wenger wake up and smell the roses and sign a new keeper ?

No, we all know from the sarcastic interview comments and the responses to previous fans Q&A that he considers our views worthless and if anything will try and prove us wrong (like he always does)

2. Will it shatter Almunia's confidence and get him dropped ?

Possibly....and then what. You want the Polish clown. A guy who after 30 years of watching Arsenal has led me to the position of never attending another domestic cup tie all the while he plays, and who costs us these cups single handedly every year. One shot to save this season and Keane who clearly thought he was offside and snatched at his chance still gets it through his butterfingers. Mannone is no better and Wenger will not play Chesney in the League despite what any of us say. So if Almunia does get dropped we end up with Fabianski till January at the earliest (although you are welcome to my Silver memberships if this does become the case)

3. Will it heap more unwanted attention on the club just as it did with Eboue ?

Yes, undoubtedly and although some on here take the "fuck the media" approach it is not befitting of a club like Arsenal and personally I feel ashamed to hear it going on. Some of the bile spilling out towards him yesterday was pathetic and I was in the family enclosure !! We don't need to take that approach honestly...

Personally I say keep the heat on Wenger

Steve O, I have no problem if we the fans start protesting against wenger's decisions, lack of transfers etc but as I said before most fans are afraid to make that stance  To me the alternatives to some sort of protest (ie no protest at all) are unacceptable as we continue down a road which see's wenger and the people running our club embrace mediocrity as if it is the most prized possession in the world  :( Have said it before and will say it again this club needs an overhaul to the point that all the people running the club need to be replaced
