Ronaldo

Post by donaldo »

At the start of the year there was a poll on this forum asking if you still thought we could win the league.I said no because we dont have a Ronaldo.A player who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck and win it on his own.We used to have a player like him in Thierry Henry but alas he hasn"t been replaced. We have done well so far this season but we are coming to the part of the season when home draws against poor teams are not good enough.Ronaldo won the league on his own for Man utd last season and it looks like him may do the same this season.Have we got anyone going forward how come close to him? The answer must be no.

Three different threads in the last few days and the common underlying point in them all is the lack of a top top quality player and the need to sign one or two of them. You wont find me disagreeing with you donaldo but wenger on the other hand.....

Very true. Take Ronaldo out of the Manure team and they would be a dozen or so points behind us. Quality player.

Rebel thank Christ he has missed a few games. He has only got 22goals so far.

My point is sadly there is not one Arsenal player who can do what he does. I say sadly because for 8 years we did have that player Henry

BUT WE ONLY WON TWO TITLES IN ALL THE TIME HENRY WAS WITH US, AND NONE IN HIS FINAL 3 YEARS - SO WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY PROVE?!!

WENGER PREFERS THE TEAM ETHIC TO THAT OF RELYING ON ONE OR TWO INDIVIDUALS TO PRODUCE THE MAGIC, AND SO FAR THIS SEASON IT HAS WORKED. 8)

I AGREE WE COULD DO WITH STRENGTHENING BUT WENGER HAS ALREADY STATED THAT HE ISN'T GOING TO. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE WHINGE ABOUT IT (YES, YOU AUGIE!! ) WE JUST HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT FACT AND GET USED TO IT. HOWEVER, TO SUDDENLY START PINNING FOR HENRY AFTER THE START WE'VE MADE IS SOMEWHAT ILLOGICAL IN MY OPINION.

By not strengthing our we excepting 2nd best? I always said one of Wenger"s biggest mistakes was not strengthing after the invincibles season. Man Utd won the title last year yet still spent over £50m in the summer. We should have tried to sign Alnelka. What our the club doing with all the profits which were annouced in October? Oh i forgot we our trying to sign a 15 year old from Gillingham

I AGREE WITH ALL THAT DONALDO, BUT LIKE I SAID, WENGER SEEMS TO HAVE MADE HIS MIND UP AND I SUPPOSE WE JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE HE WILL GET IT RIGHT.

NO, I DON'T THINK ARSENAL SHOULD EVER SETTLE FOR SECOND BEST, BUT IN TRUTH MOST OF US WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THAT AT THE START OF THE SEASON GIVEN ALL THE FURORE OVER HENRY LEAVING AND THE NON-STRENGTHENING OF THE SQUAD.

SECOND PLACE, IN REALITY, IS PROBABLY THE BEST WE WILL END UP THIS SEASON, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE WE WOULD HAVE FINISHED HIGHER HAD WE MADE THE PURCHASES WE ALL DESIRED.

ALTHOUGH I HATE THE SAYING, IT'S TRUE THAT WE MUST JUST TRUST ARSENE. WHAT OTHER CHOICE DO WE HAVE, SAVE FOR CAMPAIGNING FOR HIM TO BE SACKED - AND NONE OF US ARE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO WANT THAT, SURELY?

Totally agree IHH

Wenger is our greatest manger ever and i would never want him to leave. But after such a great start to the season what a shame it would be to see the team just fade away in the second half of the season because we didn"t have the strength in dept.Even games we have been winning before saturday the performances have not been good. I have faith that Wenger will get it right but we need to be signing the likes of Anelka,Huntelaar and even Berbatov to push us that bit closer.Maybe i"m being greedy

Agree with you all, however, amid all this Ronaldo butt kissing can I point out that they have lost more games than us and even with the great Ron and Roo they are on the same number of points as us

And I will bet if we have to go to Old Dungheap and win we can do it :!:

OK we dropped points at home to Brum but FFS put the dummy back in.

Guilty as charged IHH   I also agree that buying players will not guarantee us success but surely it would give us a better chance than we have right now :?: It wouldnt be a shame if we just faded away from this title race now.....it would be a fcuking disgrace

For 3 seasons now we have seen quality players leave this club either through sales or retirement and each season the outgoings have been greater than the incomings. Last season even wenger himself pointed to a lacking in squad size as a reason for our absence from the teams challenging for the BIG trophies. Now we all could just about accept a lack of investment for the last few years while the emirates was being built but now they tell us we are flush with money, the biggest matchday turnover in the world etc etc and yet we still dont see the required investment. Yes wenger has done a fab job for the club and is the best manager ever(not just at arsenal) but that doesnt mean he is infallible as some would have you believe. The main thing that sticks in my throat about the lack of investment is that he talks up our young players but shows fcuk all confidence in playing them so which is it arsene...are they good enough or not ?

Once upon a time gooners everywhere declared that "George Knows" until one day they decided he didnt know anymore and I for one fear that day is coming for wenger too

PS I would never ever criticise le boss to non Arsenal fans and will always lord him up but this is a gooner forum where fans should feel free to express their opinions whatever they may be so disagree with me as you will but not because we are not meant to criticise our own

weve also scored more goals than Arsenal , with a greater number of goalscorers.. and have the best defence in the league...not to mention we have 2of our most experienced and regular first team players including the captain...

when you come to OT , I expect you to defend like you lives depended on it...ala the FA cup..the difference is you cant hang on for penalties.

pancho,,, dont forget the small matter of we won at ot last season and dont see any reason why that wont happen again,,
as for your stupid comment about the f a cup,, arsenal didnt play well that day ( but won ) and have dominated games and havent won,, such is football

you did win at OT last yr...but you have only beaten us three times in the PL in the last 5 seasons...and if you are being honest you were lucky to get a draw earlier this season
