Thats a pretty hostile atmosphere for our boys to perfrom in so well done them, solid result, job done.
The supporters are whipped up by their "Ultras" at the far end by a bloke on the mike throughout the game. Deafening at times but when the gooners started to sing in a gap we were whistled out completely.
Non stop stuff being chucked from cardboard flags to coins and batteries and people were being hit. Uefa dont want those type of stories to come out in order to keep as many paying countries in the competition. Passionate yes but with 3000 police on patrol for the complete day plus our football intelligence units this was a massive operation. ( Was told that the police on duty was more than Hertfordshire, luton Bedfordshire had on at the same time.
Well done to all the Gooners travelling and get back safe, good trip but there are still issues on that place who are still 30 years behind in their football behaviour.

Very strange game. We never looked like losing even after their penno put it one all tbh.

Negatives first; Duhnilson - what the fuck was he thinking for their penno? He had an age to decide what to do and he just stuck his arm up. And the fucking diving everytime he was touched? Twat.

I thought both Song and Duhnilson were poor for alot of it. Both kept trying to pass the ball through oppo defenders and Song seems to be back to his "I'm a slow motion Paddy Vieira" thing too. The ammount of possession he lost dawdling on the ball was terrible. Essien will fuck him prison-style if he tries that on Sunday. Song only improved when he (or Wenger) simplified his game. He needs to just do the basics and give the ball to a creative player.

Rosicky was awful but I'm willing to put that down to a bad day at the office and he did whip in a lovely ball for Chamakh's goal.

AA23 needs to be kicked up the arse. He is so fucking lazy. Even his penno was lazy!

Positives; Credit where it is due. Flappy made a great penno save and another very good save late on. You could see his confidence build and he claimed nearly every high ball well. Do I now think he is good enough? Fuck no. But he did well last night and I can only pray he builds on that but I'd be surprised as fuck if he does.

Wilshere was sublime again. He really has the magic for one so young. I'd start him against the chavs because he might just provide that extra little bit of genius at a key moment and nick us a result.

Chamakh took his goal well, showed great instinctive response to the rebound. Gibbs did ok but looked tethered because lazyhole AA23 gave him no cover.

A good result in a hostile environment. Well done the lads. And I hope everyone gets home ok.

Got to agree with DB10 with his summary, I really hope Flappy kicks on from this, but I have my doubts, I said the same during half time of the WBA game, that perhaps, saving the penalty may have given Al some confidence, but that proved totally unfounded.

Hope all the Gooners who went, get back ok, Oh.... and I spotted Worthing Gooners flag in the corner....

Who was the co-commentator on Sky?

Don Goodman I think?

What an Arsenal hating drama queen - Very negative the whole match, and on 68 minutes, he said 'time is running out for Arsenal'

68 MINUTES!!!

Just home from what turned out to be a cracking trip. I drew out equivalent of 40 quid in local notes when I got there, on the piss all day, Serbian mixed grill lunch, commemorative T-shirt and programme - and still had 10 quid to spend at the airport duty free on the way back. Sun, warmth, and a good atmosphere in the stadium. Nice of them to share their flags, batteries (one hit me on the head) and coins with us...

No sign of the threatened, fabled gangs of Serbian nationalist thugs. Loads of journo's in the streets doing the rounds interviewing Gooners at every opportunity, usually with common questions along the lines of: "Before you came to Belgrade, were you feeling afraid to come here? Now that you're here, do you feel frightened to be in Belgrade?"

Much of our most vocal support came from the contingent of travelling Bulgarian Gooners that showed up - fair play.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if UEFA will be complaining about the Partizan MC on the PA - but that's because he was shouting over the top of all their usual official UEFA 'peace, love and harmony to all men' announcements. Any complaint made by Arsenal about the PA distracting Wenger or the Arsenal players certainly won't be listened to.

And the team got a result.

Fine. Bit of a bump that's all.

The Serbian police caught the guy who threw the battery - and I understand he's going to be charged...

I'm a big Schillachi fan. I think he's been hampered by shit alongside him. Him and Vermalen will be a good pairing. Him and Kos could do well against Chelsea being it'll be more of a heading type game, and they showed against Sunderland they can handle tht sort of threat
