usual thread starter… Fulham away, Newcastle home, Man City away, Blackburn home. A bit of me thinks the next four Premiership matches will make or break Arsenal’s title challenge. The boys really need at least ten points from these matches. Anything less and my fear is the team will fall away and save their best for Europe. Are you still optimistic or has the balance now tipped to the north? Chelsea have to host both teams yet, so they can’t be discounted either, especially after splashing out for Nicolas Anelka. It’s going to be a long week. Can’t wait til Saturday. Hopefully the players will be chomping at the bit too.
Arsenal's fragile defence cost dear v Birmingham (14/1)
Why o why do we always have to crucify ourselves when things do no go right, yes we were poor 2 points dropped, but to say man u do dot drop points is wrong, w ham , reading, bolton, man city, do any of these games ring a bell this season, now i'm not saying we will walk away with the league because i dont think we will but we will be in the mix, so why all the pessimism you list our next few games saying they will be tough fulham away, barcodes at home, citeh away and blackburn at home which one of those games fills you with dread ?, of course we could loose to any of them but we should expect to win them all, if we as in the fans start to get nervous this gets through to the players and puts pressure on them, get behind the team and expect to win every game, and dont slash your wrists when we dont, come the end of the season we will be there or there about.
On the subject of the defence yes were are a bit short but if we are on the attack they cant score.

bloody hell kevin.
there was i talking to you on sat about the gloom and doom merchants and two min after i start thread about ott negativity to any minor setback , you start yet another doom and gloom thread.
remember 29th dec. muppets lost when should have won, we won when by half time we should have been beaten out of sight.
there are some positives from sat- eduardo has plainly improved in last month, theo was so bad that wenger will surely not repeat mistake and pick him again in league, and as ever big phil showing signs that as is usual with him , given run in team he does improve.
now that even wenger has publicly given team rocket up their arse, hopefully complacency wont feature again .
wonder if other players had been affected by flu bug that hit robin and tomas.

we play the best footie on the planet, but we can't defend for toffee.
i agree with donaldo. why doesn't almunia come out more often for corners and free kicks.
one of the reasons could be the mistakes he made against manure, when he came out and didn't get the ball a couple of times. he hasn't come out since he was criticised for them mistakes.
lehman never used to come out much either.
in the article it says how we never seem to win the first ball when the oppposition play long. i've noticed this, and it always baffles me why every other team manages to win the first ball, but we never do.

I dont think you can blame the defence for the 1-1 draw against the Brum!!
Senderos was possibly our best player and Gallas was as solid as always and I think everyone rates Clichy and Sagna very highly.
We should have finished our chances, simple as that.
But we didn't and a draw isnt the end of the world, its a fact of football that games dont always go the way of the better team.
The test will be next week, can the boys recover? I think so.

Yes it was a bad day on Saturday, made worse as I got home just in time to see Newcastle destroyed by Ronaldo - albeit very impressively - after the first half sounded fairly hopeful on the radio. I rather hoped Newcastle would be motivated by the sacking of the clearly unsuitable fat b******. Nicolas too will clearly strengthen Chelsea - good for him too; the incredible sulk has suffered enough for his mistake in leaving Arsenal and watching Thierry take all the glory he might have had and he did play a big part in the double.
However, whilst the 2 point lead was an insurance, we are behind only on goal difference and whilst I agree with Kev regarding the need for a result at OT and SB, that was always going to be the case and it's far too early for such a degree of editorial doom and gloom.
I dont blame Almunia for the Birmingham goal; Cesc sadly looked half asleep as the corner came across - most of the match also to be honest - and the deflection off him was so marked that Manuel stood no chance.
Give the team a break. They and the manager know what went wrong and they need our support, not negativity.
