As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

only on goal diff,, and football has a funny way of turning around, so if the manure feel like the league is won already then leave them off,,
lot of games left to play and many points still to be dropped by both,, chelsea coming up on the outside as well
and we both have to go there :x

WHICH IS ABOUT THE SAME LENGTH OF TIME YOU WENT WITHOUT WINNING IT UNTIL LAST YEAR!!

YOUR FIRST POST STARTS OFF BRAGGING ABOUT BEING TOP GOALSCORERS, WHICH YOU ONLY BECAME AFTER BEATING (IN THE TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD!! ) NEWCASTLE THIS WEEKEND, THEN MENTIONS OTHER REASONS WHY YOUR TOP. YET, DESPITE ALL OUR SUPPOSED PROBLEMS AND INFERIORITY, WE ARE ONLY BEHIND ON GOAL DIFFERENCE. 8)

LIKE I'VE TOLD YOU BEFORE PANCHO, I DON'T EXPECT US TO WIN IT BUT THE MERE FACT WE ARE COMPETING - DESPITE NOT HAVING SPENT THE VAST SUMS MAN UTD DID - SHOWS ME THAT YOU WON'T HAVE IT ALL YOUR OWN WAY.

BY THE WAY, IF YOU WANT TO CHECK FERGIE'S HEAD TO HEAD RECORD AGAINST WENGERS, YOU'LL FIND OUR MAN IS LEADING - DESPITE ALL THE RESOURCES AT FERGIE'S DISPOSAL!!

MIND YOU, IF WE CAN'T WIN IT, I WOULD STILL RATHER MAN UTD WON THE TITLE THAN THE CHAVS FROM FULHAM!!

If I had to pick somebody (a likely contender) to win the league apart from us, it would be Manure before the Chavs.
Okay, they have both spent infinitely more than us but at least Manure have some pedigree. The chavs are like 'new money' in footballs 'aristocracy' whereas Manure have a history of more than 4 years and have built teams over time not bought it all at once.

I've said it before, and I'll repeat myself now, I think manure will win it this year as they have a little more tenacity than us. One a best performance basis though I still think we are the better team.

Rooney & Ronaldo a deadly partnership

They lost Van Nis & won the league

We've lost Thierry in the summer & i don't see why the league is something we can't do, Utd won the league with kids back in 1996 (the double) so lets hope we can do the same

A excellent partnership wouldn't hurt

Pancho wrote:weve also scored more goals than Arsenal , with a greater number of goalscorers.. and have the best defence in the league...not to mention we have 2of our most experienced and regular first team players including the captain...

when you come to OT , I expect you to defend like you lives depended on it...ala the FA cup..the difference is you cant hang on for penalties.
So your talkign about FA Cups and Arsenal not being able to hang on to penalties .......

Just cast your mind back to May 21 2005

We were close to signing Ronaldo, imagine him in our team instead of Eboue. Both are knobs but at least one is talented
Arsène Wenger has revealed Arsenal were "very close" to signing Cristiano Ronaldo before he moved to Manchester United in 2003.

The Portuguese winger is having a superb season and leads the Premier League scoring charts with 19 goals. Overall the 22-year-old has 54 strikes in 149 games for Sir Alex Ferguson's side - a great ratio from midfield. But he so nearly plied his exciting trade at Emirates Stadium.

"I knew about him yes," said Wenger at Friday's pre-match press conference. "We were very close. Manchester United had a partnership with Sporting Lisbon when Carlos Queiroz came in - that made the difference.

"One day I will tell you more about that story and you will be surprised. But you will have to ask him how close it was."

Wenger's own striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, is the nearest challenger to Ronaldo in the scoring charts with 16. The Arsenal manager was surprised to see that particular pair so far clear at the top.

"I expected Rooney to be in there, also Owen but he was injured," said Wenger. "I am not surprised too much that Adebayor scores more goals, but I did not expect Ronaldo to score as many as he has because he plays on the wing.

"Someone asked me in an interview today what is the difference between Ronaldo and Messi? For me it is the goals. Messi is more of a dribbler in a very short space, but Ronaldo is good in the air, good on free-kicks, right foot, left foot. He has developed very well."

Irrelevant. He isn't in the team, so not worth even considering. Anyway, there's no saying he would have developed in to the same player with us.
