First ever Arsenal game
So what was the first Arsenal game you attended and what are your memories from it?
Mine was Arsenal vs Oldham, January 22nd 1994. We drew 1-1 with Ian Wright netting a penelty after they opened the scoring with a free kick.
I was 8 and sat in the North Bank lower and had me hooked from then on in, just the whole atmosphere of the place and the day, the stadium...couldn't stay away after that.
I do remember the crowds negativity towards Kevin Campbell, he couldn't do anything right and got slaughtered for every mistake.
Also remember moving seats in the second half to get nearer to the front....how times change!

16th of december 1995. Arsenal drew 1-1 with Chelski. sat in the North Bank lower. Arsenal equalised in the 88th minute just as my dad (who is a Chelsea fan) was dragging me down the tunnel. Everyone went beserk and we all ran back up the stairs. my first arsenal goal at Highbury and i didn't even bloody well see it. I've never really forgiven my old man for that

I TOOK ONE OF MY NEPHEWS TO HIS FIRST ARSENAL GAME AT THAT MATCH AGAINST OLDHAM AND REMEMBER WRITING - AND HAVING PRINTED - A MATCH REPORT IN THE GOONER (ISSUE 53).
I REMEMBER IT BECAUSE WE MISSED WRIGHTY'S GOAL JUST BEFORE HALF-TIME AS I HAD TAKEN HIM TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT.
IT WAS THE FIRST AND LAST TIME I EVER LEFT THE PLAYING ARENA EARLY.
I'VE JUST RE-READ THE ARTICLE AND IT'S FUNNY HOW MUCH THINGS CHANGE - YET IN SOME WAYS STAY THE SAME. IF PEOPLE THINK WE HAVE REASONS TO MOAN TODAY,THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THAT OUR MIDFIELD AROUND THAT TIME CONSISTED OF HILLIER, JENSEN AND McGOLDRICK!!
I WROTE: "I DECIDED TO TAKE HIM TO HIGHBURY SO HE COULD EXPERIENCE FOR HIMSELF THE EXHILARATION CAUSED BY SEEING A JOHN JENSEN GOAL, AN ACCURATE DAVID HILLIER PASS AND - MOST SPECIAL OF ALL - EDDIE McGOLDRICK BEATING A DEFENDER FOR PACE AND PUTTING OVER A QUALITY CROSS!!" I THINK YOU'LL AGREE THAT WAS SARCASAM AT IT'S BEST!!
I DO ADMIT TO HAVING A POP AT KEVIN CAMPBELL IN IT, ALTHOUGH IN A WITTY WAY: "IN THE LAST FEW MINUTES WE DID MANAGE TO STEP UP THE PACE WITH KEV HITTING THE WOODWORK AND WRIGHTY MISSING A COUPLE OF CHANCES HE WOULD NORMALLY TUCK AWAY WITH HIS EYES CLOSED. GOD FORBID HE SHOULD CATCH THAT TERRIBLE DISEASE COMMONLY KNOW AS 'CAMPBELLITIS' - WE WOULD REALLY BE IN TROUBLE THEN!"
MEMORIES .. FROM A CORNER OF MY MIND ...

That's great you remember that...I do remember a crowd of about twenty and a half thousand being there and it was a tenner to sit on the north bank lower, last season at highbury that same place cost about 45 quid! (god i sound old and my first game was in the nineties!). A one all draw with Oldham had me hooked though for life.

i went to the newcastle home game in 1988 i think. i fell down through my seat in the east upper and had chicken pocks or measles and therefore was unwell. my dad took me home at half time.
a year or two later we went to the 4-0 win over liverpool i was sat in the JG section.
first eurpoean game was in 1995 sampdoria at home, oone the best nights of mylife. i remember walking to the ground with all the italian fans it was great. didn't adams and stevie bould get two almost identical headers that night. i just remember being amazed with the band in the north bank.
