Romelu Lukaku...?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The fact that he is 17 and not proven also shows we have a strong chance of signing him. Remember a certain theo who was sold for 12mil.

Tbh i think we could spend this money on someone more proven. Spuds got VdV for 8 mil FFS!
Then in a couple of years time we'll be kicking ourselves for not trying to get him.

This guys already on the radar of Europes elite and it won't be long until he's one of, if not thee, top striker in Europe or the World.

But you're right....lets get Darren Bent.

haha wasnt really thinking Darren Bent. I agree i would love this guy at Arsenal but i would like some money to be spent that will benifit the team ASAP. Someone that we can buy that hit the ground running from day one and help us stay in the top 4 this season.

arsene is determined to find young talent, he doesn't want to sign established players. remember the quote: "we don't sign stars- we make them", or something? yeah like denilson and diaby are going to go for £30 million to inter and real madrid :banghead:
Oi, Wash your mouth out, Denilson's off to Barca in a £12million swoop don't you know

Have watched a few games he played in (I'm Belgian btw).... He's a beast, a tractor, I would shit myself if I were a center-back and had to play against him... Not in the greatest of form atm though (that could be said for the whole team)....
His dad protects him a lot (he wants him to finish school before going abroad etc.), I think that's an honourable thing in this day and age...
On the other hand someone I know has already met Lukaku and he told me he was a prick (the lad loves himself and all)...

This is the paradox of our youth system encapsulated. For me Romelo Lukaku from the times I have seen him could be the living embodiment of the old chestnut about being old enough if you are good enough. He is a terrific prospect and we worth going for.

He is well ahead of where Theo was when we bought him at 17 and already contributing significantly on the first-team level in the Belgian First Division or whatever they call it today. That is not dispararge Theo but simply to point out how good he is at his age already. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a strong support system around him raising him the right way.

As for having an ego, well Nik Bendtner does too, so what? So long as he's not Zlatan mk II I think we could survive that him being a bit full of himself as he rightly is if that is the case.

Spending 30-40 million of Lukaku and Moussa Sissoko than 20 million more on a Vincent Kompany type holding mid-fielder(song has lost the plot or is hoping someone will see him as an all-around mid-fielder and come in for him I suspect) and a top keeper and this team could really be set for years to come and set to win things as well.

All the other pieces are there just about add these now and we can get over the hump ohterwise we'll always be that player or two short and trying to figure out just how we can get over till the end of time(so to speak)
