TAXI FOR FLAMINI
TAXI FOR FLAMINI
I know Flamini has won over a large portion of the fans with his performances this season but it cant have escaped your notice that his contract runs out in the summer. This isnt a poll as such but I would like to know if fans think we should sell him now to get some money for him or hold out in the hope that he will stay. I think most would opt for the latter but I remember the fans annoyance at the way the club allowed edu & wiltord to run their contracts down thus walking away from the club without us earning a bob
This whole issue has been brought home to me lately cos of diarra's impending exit and seeing as most reckon that flamini isnt the long term answer either would should the club do with flamini now. Opinions please

Yes his performances have been well over and above what we all even dreamed of in July/August but is he really the long term answer.....not for me!
I believe that the improvement he has shown has blinkered us all somewhat to the fact he is no Petit, Edu, or Gilberto in his pomp! Yes all different kinds of players but the latter three had genuine class!
We shall see as the old saying goes " form is temporary, class is permanent"!
My guess is he is going nowhere and I am happy about that despite what I say above! I have had huge respect for him since his stint at left back and genuinely felt sorry he was dumped on the bench for the final to make way for Mr Tweedy.
My guess is that he knows his stock has risen and he is holding out for more and who can blame him!
Hope he stays but not my greatest concern if he left.....though would be hugely fucked off if he went for free!

I like Flamini and know that we have tabled a deal to renew his contract. I hope he agrees new terms as he has proved a loyal servant and has been repayed this season by being a first team regular. If we let him go, along with Diarra apparently going shortly & assuming Bert is also gonna go in the summer, we could be left a little short. Which does seem ridicolous considering Diarra wants out due too much competition for first team football.
Stay with us Matty

Well obviously I want to the Flanimal to stay, but if he has his heart set on leaving, then that's up to him. I'd keep hold of him until the end of his contract though, because although his performances have been good this season, I doubt that we'd get that much money for him (or should I say, given our recent history in the transfer market, I doubt AW would ask for much money for him).
Matty will stay i'm sure,
I personally would love to see Diaby played in the middle on occasions as he is wasted on the left. Losing Diarra won't be a problem as we are overloaded with CM players and he wasn't getting a lookin anyway, Diaby for me as 3rd choice CM. Gilberto (sadly) has been below his usual high standards this season. He was superb last year though and I won't hear a bad word said against him (I'll walk to another room) and I felt for him when WG got the captains arm band.

I just asked the question IHH so dont try and rope me into the firing line
Actually if I'm honest I would probably still put PV4 into the team today(even at his age) ahead of flamini, gilberto & diarra. I know that makes me a sad old b*stard still living in the past but boy could Vieira tackle and he would have babysat Cesc far better than bert

Well I’m not, and I don’t think anyone else is on here is, under any illusion that The Flanimal ©TS2007 is not the most talented player in the squad, and that he is definitely punching above his weight at the moment. I love the guy for his work ethic and for his mentality. Because of how loyal he has been, I really couldn’t begrudge him a move elsewhere if he really wanted it.I Hate Hleb wrote:WELL I MUST SAY I AM SURPRISED.![]()
I EXPECTED TONY SAUNDERS TO BE INDIGNANT WITH RAGE AT THE MERE THOUGHT OF GETTING RID OF HIS FLANIMAL!!

INDEED, I WAS ANTICIPATING THE LIKELY 'MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARENCE' OF BOTH AUGIE AND GUS FROM THE FORUM AS A WARNING AND LESSON TO THE REST OF US!![]()

With all of that said, I am hoping he stays. If not for a place in the starting line up, then he would make an excellent backup (utility) player.
