the webmaster (rob) wanted to remove mention of what occurred for 'tactical' reasons, so it is possible that a few posts went as part of this process.
however, when people become moderators (and there will be a couple of new ones soon, i just haven't got around to it), as a rule i tell them not to be censorious. if we have posts that we get contacted for which could lead to legal action, then we may well remove legally dangerous posts.
i won't allow blatant and obvious racism/bigotry, and in thread titles the 'c' word is asterisked to c**t or similar. and then there are avatars which are technically obscene according to the publishing laws in the UK.
but after that, the forum is what you people make it. i think if you look back on some of the stuff that's been posted and remained, then i'd say that we tend to let people have their voice and i certainly don't want the forum to become a place that people feel they can't express their views. at the same time, i would hope for an element of responsibility. but i come back to the idea that the forum is what the regulars make it. that includes a lot of humour that can be taken the wrong way, but if something is altered by me for reasons of offence, i will always explain in said thread. but you'd have to go pretty over the top for that to happen as i don't think i have to do that more than 2 or 3 times a year from memory.
so i hope everyone is cool with the above and continues to contribute and make the forum what it is. a place for a frank exchange of views and some warped humour where everyone feels they can express themselves, but without overstepping a fairly distant mark.
if there is anything anyone is concerned about that requires a fast response, by all means PM me - i'll pick that up much quicker. and please remember i don't have the time to read everything posted here. some of us have work to do
