Arsene says Chamahk didn't dive

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

it wasnt a dive but there wasnt enough contact to throw himself to the ground the way he did.

It was a pen but it was also a 8.0 on the points board, sure Chamakh flung himself down like a hero on a bomb BUT he has won us more pens that we had in total last year.

Saying that no one gave us a pen after Eduardo was witch hunted...poor fella. :(

Another fact - we only had ONE red card the whole of last season (Tommy V against West Ham at the Grove) think we've past that one already.

The lad is gathering a rep already for this.
If that was a Rooney moment I would be going spanners so we cant have it both ways!!( We can it just depends on your way of thinking)
That was right in front of me and i felt a tad embarassed over that incident. Get back to the old classic of shooting and sometimes scoring goals...

TO be fair, even though Chammy indeed went down like a hero on a bomb, it was a clear penalty.
So chammy won us 4 pens so far this season? Fair enough if it helps us win more games. But I'd rather see us score real goals...

I'm glad he's a 'clever' striker who can win penalties.

You often here, especially when it's one of the media's darlings (Shearer, Gerrard etc...), that they cleverly bought the penalty. Well Chammy's doing the same.
I just fear that he'll now have a reputation like Eboue and how Eddie did?

Of the top of my head he's also won 3 red cards.
Belgrade, Blackpool and Bolton (that one was harsh, well if it wasn't Bolton)

I love how blind we are at times. It was a blatant dive, once again, by Chamakh.

Was there contact? It certainly looked like there was MINIMAL contact. Was it enough to knock him down? Certainly not. That makes it a dive. As Worthing said, had it been Rooney this place would go into meltdown.

Why is it that so many people here hate Eboue for diving, but Chamakh does it time after time and has excuses made for him?

Enjoy all the penalties he's "won" us so far, because people are picking up on how Chamakh throws himself down in the box, and we're sure as shit going to start having even stonewall penalties turned down on the back of it.

I agree. I was embarassed by that. His goal to make it 2-1 was quality but I wish he would shoot more often instead of inviting the tackle and diving/being clever

To be fair Chamakh has dived no end since he joined, he's been here five minutes and everyone can see it, it's embarassing and we're turning into United with their squad packed full of them

'To be fair' to whom? :? :? There was no need to start the sentence with that. :banghead: Sorry Sutch, I don't want to come over all 'grammer school teacher' on you but one of my pet hates is when people use this saying out of it's proper context - which when it comes to football analysis, is almost always!! :banghead:
