Everton Away (14th November)

Post by bensebastian »

Hi guys, sorry if there's already a topic for this, couldn't find one, but I bought 2 tickets for Everton yesterday (£32) and was just wondering what people thought of it as an away trip? I've read a bit about obstructed views but does anybody know how bad these actually are? I've had some pretty bad views in the past (loftus road springs to mind)

Cheers

Everton is an absolute toilet of a football ground.

The home fans are shit, the old bill are shit, the stewards are shit.

I fucking hate the place. Only been once and will never go back. It didn’t help that we lost but I was sitting right next to the home fans in the lower tier, they were dead quiet till they went 1 up then started giving it large. Any attempts by us to have a go back were met with shouts from the old bill to sit back down along with the stewards whilst the home guys had carte blanche to abuse us with their fucking whiney in bred accents. Many fans around me even got slung out for swearing.

And don’t even get me started on the coach trip out of the cess pit that is Liverpool.

I fucking hate the place to this day, and it was about 10 years ago now.

...and welcome to the forum, Ben!

Away days can be what you make of them. If you have good mates with you it can be a blast having to deal with shitholes like Badison Park.

I went there in 1990-91 and you used to stand below pitch level  Now that was a restricted view. Never had any problems as far as the locals were concerned.

Sorry doesnt help you much now though

Cheers, I'm going up on the train with some mates so we'll try and have a few on the way up. I do love away days but it's funny how shit they can turn given a bad result (went to wigan last year)

I like Goodison Park... Don't really give a shit about restricted view and all, at least the ground has character... Makes a change from the lego stadiums...
A bit surprised it's not sold out yet!!!

I've think Goodison is a lovely old ground.

The views of the back of the lower tier of the away section is comparable with the views from the back of the old East or West lowers at Highbury.

I also always have found the Evertonians to be a very gracious bunch of supporters tbh. I was in the Gladys Street end when they did us 1-0 in the last minute (Andy Johnson was it?) and they didn't give me any sh1t and it was obvious I was Arsenal.

I will be drinking in the Carrisbrook (prob wrong spelling).

Yes you can, mongo.

My last away day in the league was 1991. Been to a few away grounds since on corporates but not to see the Arsenal. And I count travel to Europe as a Primo away day. 8)

You haven't been to a home game either for a few years now flash? Seen as you've got the internet and all that.

Cheers for the pub tip, may have to venture in there before the game! I used to sit at the back of the east lower in the corner so can definitely live with a view like that, we're probably spoilt at the grove with the enormous seats and leg room :)
