fair enough, i'm sure you'll have seen a lot more of the lad than i have- i just think that he seems a bit lightweight to play right up top in the PL, and tbh i have never been overly impressed by his movement. If you are going to be a small lad up front, you really need to have lightning quick reactions and know when to make your move to get in ahead of the centre backs.

Just checking the fountain of all knowledge (wiki) and his goalscoring record hasn't been impressive anywhere other than Mexico's U17 team (3 in 28 league games for AFC, 8 in 31 at Salamanca, 3 in 32 at Osasuna, and 9 in 33 for Mexico). I notice it says that at Salamanca, whilst he didnt score many, he created a lot of their goals. Time will tell I guess, and he's definitely young enough to develop into a goalscorer- can't see it being at Arsenal tbh though, probably better suited to the Spanish (or even French) leagues

I actually agree with you. The thing is he looked far more impressive when he first joined us, at the moment he looks slow and not very sharp, and a little on the tubby side as well. marcengels has a point regarding his lack of desire at times.

I don't know what Wenger will do with him. Though I still think he's a good player to have around, just for squad depth.

If you put him in the current unted team he'd look and do the exact same and would fit in with a lot of shit they have already! I'd gladly do business with them in the summer but fergie's not that daft.

Hardly mate. Hernandez is scoring for fun at Manure and he's not half the player Vela is. In Mexico they rate Vela as their best talent since Hugo Sanchez.

I will never understand professional footballers who lack desire given how lucky they are to be doing a job they love and being very well paid for it, but I suppose with Vela he probably just feels dispirited. He knows he will get a game in the Carling Cup and, pretty much no matter how he does, he will then be shelved until the next Carling Cup game comes around. Most of the sides he faces are poor (either lower league, or PL teams playing second string sides) so even when he scores he doesnt get much praise. The Arsenal have a lot of quality options when it comes to playing 4-3-3, either with strikers like RVP, Chamakh, Bendtner, or using Rosicky, Walcott, Nasri, Arshavin- poor old Vela must just think it is an almost impossible task to genuinely break into that group, and i suppose that might unintentionally stop him performing with as much energy as he should

Fantastic result tonight! 4 goals and a clean sheet again!

The more I see Kos play, the more I wonder if I would not pick him up ahead of Squid when TV gets fit.
If only Theo could keep heading this way, he could fast become one of our finest asset offensively! Unlike many other players, when Theo gets past the defender, there's no way you can catch him again!
Nicky scored a fine goal, but I'm still concerned with his technical abilities. Excluding his good goal, and his physical presence up front, I find him pretty damn poor... I'd rather see what JET is all about.
I wish from the bottom of my heart that this was Djourou's last game for a while. Despite one or two interceptions, he was piss poor again, and didn't inspired any kind of confidence in the defense...I know he's been out of action for a while, but he will cost us dearly rather sooner than later.
Good result overall... May Walcott keep up his game in the PL! After all he's our new Number 14!! :barscarf: :barscarf:

Just saw a pre match post on a newcastle site about the arsenal game which made me laugh- thought I'd share it on here

"Arsenal have not won a domestic trophy for 5 years so they are taking it seriously. We haven't won a domestic trophy for 55 years and we are not bothered. How shameful is that when potentially we are the bigger club."

Wait, what?

We have:

a larger city to draw from

a larger global fanbase

a larger, more modern stadium

our fans' bollocks don't hang out

very few of us have massive fucking manboobs

better players

a better manager

a better youth network

a better scouting network

a better history

better training facilities

and we play better football.

What have they got? About seven convicts. They fucking look like it too.

just to prove its real, heres the link http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.p ... t&p=800040. Most of them thought they'd lose like, but no one questions the blokes "potentially bigger" statement, in fact one lad seems to actively agree with it http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.p ... t&p=800048
So they admit they arent as good as Arsenal yet, but they could be     I've almost missed the deluded bastards

Stand out players for me (good and bad);

Theo looked lively and finished both goals well.

Comedy Diver Eboue is a fucking diving cheating fucking arsehole. But hey - he's funny, let's sing him a song...  :banghead:

Denilson was piss again. How difficult is it to pass a ball without putting your team mate under undue pressure or totally missing him altogether?

Johan was abysmal again. He looks lacking in confidence and very very slow. He seldom anticipates, just tries to react, mostly when it's too late.

Kos was very good. Covered Johan's big slow ass on many occasions and doesn't mind mixing it either. Looks better and better with each game. Hope he can keep improving.

Vela was poor again. Just don't get the guy. Is it a mental thing? He has technique and talent but only seems motivated when we are 5-0 up... :?

Bendtner was good-ish last night. Mixed bag really. His first touch is still awful but he worked hard and his goal was very classy.

Is Gibbs another glass bodied punter? I'm starting to think so... :(

Shezny did well. Looks confident and made a couple of good saves. Also showed both Coco and Flappy how you punch a ball clear. But it was against a half-arsed Toon with the Mackems on Sunday... jury still out.

Nice to see Barton and Smith are still bitter little thugs too.

I don't think it's fair to judge Vela harshly on the left wing, it's not his position.
