True. But he did come in central alot last night and was inneffective there too. Also would say I'm judging him in general based on every time he's played. Only looks true quality against teams we've bulldozed 4 or 5 nil.

Vela was ok but again did not offer anything close to exceptional.

I think he is going to be a bit of an enigma. We love the undoubted talent he has but at the same time wonder why it is on show so little, even againt inferior opposition.

He also played centrally against the *****. He was our worst player that night I reckon.

I'm not gonna write him off yet but I'm just disappointed that he hasn't really progressed since he came here. Him and hernandez are both a similar type of player but hernandez's mentality seems to be much, much better. I like the way he just gets straight up after being tackled or fouled. His timing of runs seems impeccable! Luckily the mancs haven't really got much else at the moment!

Agree with both of you. However as a rosetinter I'm slightly on the positive side. He's only 21, and has never been given a sustained role, up front, week in week out. He has the talent as we've all seen, just needs the games and not to be played stop-start sometimes out left, sometimes in the middle....

He seems to play very/quite well at home, and not so well away, which is consistent with his age.

At least we have lots of options up front now, even with Persie out.

I agree he has the talent certainly. I think it is probably the lack of a continuous run of games as you suggest but combined with him lacking a strong mentality. Most players need to be playing week in week out to get to a high level of performance so I too won't rush to judge him but I do have this feeling he won't be even with us 2 years from now... another what could have been...? :?

How good was Szczesny? Based on last night's performance, he's a well-rounded goal keeper. He saved a long shot vs Smith, a 1 v 1 vs Carroll, didn't screw up a goal-line scramble like Krul, organises his defence properly, had a calm head and saved other routines as well. Perhaps his area of improvement is to pluck crosses from the air, but other than that, give him a little bit more playing time and surely we have got our own version of Shay Given.

Yeah you could be right. I hope seeing as we've been nurturing him since he was 16 means we'll give him a fair trial at some point. When he had that CC run of awesomeness he looked proper scary to play against, and his confidence/mentality was at it's strongest. Needs to get back into that frame of mind/scoring again!

I thought Koscielny was excellent, and Djourou had a strong second half, after a few dodgy moments in the first 45.

Vela is a great player to bring on when 4-0 up at home and cruising ; Again last night, he had the first chance of the match, should have scored, and then he disappeared ; Same thing happened at Ewood Park at the end of the last season when he got a rare league start.

Szcesny did well, but let's not get carried away, eh?

all this 'run in the side' stuff is all well and good but its not the norm at a club like arsenal. You have to give 100% whenever you get your chance and then its out of your hands, not turn in lacklustre displays when you do get a game then complain that you aren't getting a sustained run in the side. Vela has to learn this quickly, there are no gimmees when you're playing for a club that has the pretence of winning the league.

Anyone else think Walcott's finishes looked very Michael Owen at 19-20 ish? Maybe our boy isnearly ready to be a striker? (against teams who play a high line and are tired)

Two lovely finishes from Theo ( only his second game back ). Seems that those who were writing him off last year may have egg on thier faces :barscarf:
Bendtner looks physically more developed since coming back and played well considering it's only his second game back, lovely goal also. :barscarf:
'Keeper looked very good.

It seems some fellas aren't happy unless they're criticising one player or another. As I mentioned, Theo got it last year, Denilson gets it, even though he's played his part in the past two matches, both convincing wins, one of which was against Man Sh*tty where he didn't look out of place I know this doesn't make him the best CM in football but to pick up on every poor pass is wrong. Now Vela's getting it. He may stay, he may not, but every time he plays for us he'll get my backing. The one thing all four of these players have in common, apart from getting f*cked over by fickle f*cknut fans, is that they are all young, they are all good players and they will all get better under AW.

Wenger Knows :barscarf: ( And he's proving it, slowly but surely )
