Manure v Scum Now the Tyne Wear derby thread! Go figure.
If I were you I would be excited about it. cant say i hate many teams to be honest- newcastle (obvious), middlesbrough (horrible fans), spurs (wankers), leeds (wankers), cardiff (welsh wankers), millwall (arseholes) and thats about it- dont like chelsea or man city since they represent what is wrong with football, and dont like liverpool with their permanently moaning fans, but i wouldnt say i hate them. Most teams have very little to do with SAFC so I cant really bring myself to hate them tbh, just have a relative indifference about most sides, and quite like arsenal, villa, west brom and west ham along with a few other random CCC/ league 1 and 2 sides, the sides i like are normally due to the fans i have met on me travels

its probably even bigger for us to be fair because the joyous premier league has meant that we have spent enough to be pretty much certain not to go down, and arent good enough to push for europe. A dull, mid table season awaits so this and the return game, and the fa cup, are the three things we can genuinely look forward to. At least for Arsenal, whilst the spurs games are still huge, you also have CL campaigns and title challenges to excite as well- tragically for us, this is pretty much our season!Iceman29 wrote:

We are Arsenal, we moan a lot and we hate teams who don't roll over against our lot. As SAFC is one of them, thus my hatred. I hate the barcodes because I always have particularly because of their fans.safcftm wrote:fair enoughIceman29 wrote:I hate the barcodes to be honest but I hate your lot as well. I can't see any reason why Sunderland can't make it to the Europa League.safcftm wrote:its probably even bigger for us to be fair because the joyous premier league has meant that we have spent enough to be pretty much certain not to go down, and arent good enough to push for europe. Newcastle have a massively inflated view of their own worth rivalled only by spurs and villa. Having said that, i wouldn't say i 'hate' them, although i must say the north east in general seems to have an inferiority complex about the south as epitomised by the reaction to darren bent not going to the world cup. It was bizarre in the sense that its very unlikely fabio capello cares if bent plays in the south or not and also in the sense that I've always viewed the football media in this country to have a slant towards the north-west.
Our main problem is the fact that we cant win away- two away wins last season, none so far this season. Our home form is impressive, very few sides come to the SoL and win nowadays, but getting top 7 will always be a huge struggle if you dont know how to play away. A win away tomorrow might be the boost we need i suppose, but at the minute i still think we'll finish about 10th, which would be a decent season to be honest. After finishing with 19 points, then coming back up and finishing with 15 points, we are a fairly pessimistic bunch like, the mags are the opposite!Iceman29 wrote:I can't see any reason why Sunderland can't make it to the Europa League.safcftm wrote:its probably even bigger for us to be fair because the joyous premier league has meant that we have spent enough to be pretty much certain not to go down, and arent good enough to push for europe. Unlucky draws at Old Trafford and Anfield in my opinion. The quality is there to do it and as long as that is there then Europa is always a possibility I guesssafcftm wrote:Our main problem is the fact that we cant win away- two away wins last season, none so far this season. Don't hate any lower league teams but no real fondness for anyone.
Just want southern teams to come up, that's it.
Actually I quite like Hartlepool, but that's a Football Manager-induced like.

i think a lot of our fans just thought it was strange that phillips never got a real chance (despite still being the only englishman to win the european golden boot), and then benty comes up here and struggles like fuck to get a chance whereas the likes of defoe (who took ages to get his first england goal as well) gets picked every time. Over the last 3 seasons, only (i think) drogba, rooney and ronaldo have outscored bent, in yet the media hardly mentioned it when he wasnt taken- they made much more fuss about the exclusion of walcott and dawson (until the ferdinand injury got him back in). If Benty was playing every game for spurs and scoring as many as he did for SAFC, i think he would have gone to the WC and if he hadnt there would have been an outcry. Instead, the impression we got was "oh well, he's only at sunderland anyway, fuck him". We then went and couldnt score- no surprise when your top scorer is playing shite and too busy thinking about shagging whores and the next best english goal scorer is watching it on teleLDB wrote:Newcastle have a massively inflated view of their own worth rivalled only by spurs and villa. I dont think its a pro southern bias personally, but i do think its an anti SAFC (and other unfashionable clubs) agenda
