Arshavin?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes arshavin sprinted faster than at any stage of the game when he was hauled off but we were in desperate need of a goal and running out of time so would you prefer he just strolled off at his ease ? :?

I agree as well that sometimes he is very poor at tracking back but lets be honest here.....he aint a fcuking winger  His position should e in the deep lying centre forward position (a la the great Dennis Bergkamp) where he can provide that touch of magic and do what he does best. He is a player that needs to be involved in the game constantly so that he doesnt snooze in and out of games like he currently does. He is the only player to play for the club in the last 30 years that could come close to having the class of Bergkamp or Brady and could you honestly see Bergkamp having the type of career for us that he did if he was shunted out to the wing ?

The fact is that players of Arshavin's quality are few and far between and in a team of few such talents he should be appreciated more than he is. If the manager was doing his job properly he would realise that to maximise his abilities you have to build a team around him.....instead we build around the likes of song, diaby etc    :banghead:
Spot on Augie. We spent a lot of money on a top class player and then play him out of position and wonder why he isnt fulfilling his potential. As Augie says would DB10 be a legend now if he had played wide all of his Arsenal career?
Bergkamp has probably misplaced fewer passes in his whole career here than aa23 did against west brom. He just isn't doing the basics right and thats why he is frustrating me so much!
