Not somebody, but Wenger, because he is a hypocrite and a liar, and I despise him.Bring Back Pires wrote:So why is it "great" when somebody doesn't?goonersid wrote:Nothing, as long as you can live up to them.Bring Back Pires wrote:Why? When you preach high moral values you have to live by them too. Im not happy he has failed but i do dislike hypocritesBring Back Pires wrote:So why is it "great" when somebody doesn't?goonersid wrote:Nothing, as long as you can live up to them.Bring Back Pires wrote:Why? If the newspapers have previously portrayed Wenger as Jesus Christ reincarnated that's not Wenger's fault, he doesn't choose the coverage he receives in the papers.augie wrote:Fact is that some fans are happy to read and believe shit in the papers when it is hailing their manager as jesus christ reincarnate without ever questioning if some of the stuff is an absolute exageration but yet choose to slate these very same hacks when they exagerate a negative story.......no level of consistancy there people.
I also don't get your line of thinking, if your gullable enough to believe every positive exaggeration of a person you have to be gullable enough to believe every exaggerated negative one?
How about using your brain and finding a middle ground?

I don't recall Wenger giving an opinion either way on adultery.flash gunner wrote:When you preach high moral values you have to live by them too. In fact while in his charge didn't Ray Parlour cheat on his missus? No judgment from Wenger either way.
Did have a judgment on Parlour's drinking habits, but then again when you're a pro sportsman it's professional negligence to be pissing it up every night. And I don't recall an exclusive story of Wenger hanging around Liverpool Street pissed out of his skull on the last train home, so please tell me where the hypocrisy lies here?

I don't care about his affair and although I dislike how thrilled Fleet Street were to bring him down a peg or two I can appreciate that he has brought it on himself by his behaviour.
Five years ago this news would have been received by a Gallic shrug of the shoulders by almost every gooner but now it is different. Wenger has lost much of the goodwill he built up by participating in the summer Arsenal pantomine that is now in its sixth year. A pantomine which has resulted in our self-expulsion from the top of English football..
I think those that are secretly enjoying his discomfort over this affair are projecting some animosity from his and his employers' stubborn refusal to spend some of the money that has poured into the club on addressing the squads' obvvious shortfalls. If the pregnancy is true it seems USM is wrong and the shares aren't the only thing to enjoy a rise at Arsenal over the last few years.

And once again we ignore the financial restrictions that we're under.Cockerill's chin wrote:I don't care about his affair and although I dislike how thrilled Fleet Street were to bring him down a peg or two I can appreciate that he has brought it on himself by his behaviour.

We ignore how Liverpool threw cash around like there's no tomorrow and now they play on Thursday nights on Channel 5
We ignore how all other clubs who have built a new stadium have usually been relegated or faced a bigger decline than our relative one.
And once again we act with the pure arrogance of a bunch of spolit bastards who expect to be in the top 2 every seasons, standards only expected of this club because they were raised by Wenger to that level.
And once again, seeing the front page of that retarded 'news' paper we're all stupid enough to get wet over the irrelevant off the field antics of a football star, while the serious papers are debating the oncoming double dip recession and the new wave of unemployment it will bring.
Well done you!

total bollocks. I don't expect to be in the top 2 at all- I don't even expect to be in the top 4 when we play with no conviction or passion.Never Outgunned wrote:And once again we ignore the financial restrictions that we're under.Cockerill's chin wrote:I don't care about his affair and although I dislike how thrilled Fleet Street were to bring him down a peg or two I can appreciate that he has brought it on himself by his behaviour.

this is nothing to do with standards- wenger has caused the downfall of his own team. I used to be like you- but I came to realise wenger is not perfect- and theres no point burying your head in the sand.
wenger let many quality players go too early and replaced them with products of the youth team. we are now a selling club and struggling in the league. wenger han't addressed any of our major problems and comes out with the stupidest bollocks.
he embarasses us crying over refereeing decisions and then denies that his team aren't good enough. fine- eat up wenger's stubborn excuses. let the club fall lower and lower, meanwhile watching the 2003-04 season review signing "Theres only one arsene wenger".
I loved wenger, he was one of our best managers ever. I'm not fickle. my opinion has changed slowly over time and now it's clear he has lost it.
It is about time buddy that you pulled your head out of your own arse (or wenger's) and started seeing what is in front of your eyes
Firstly you talk about financial restrictions but isnt that being a bit economical with the truth ? In the first couple of seasons after moving to the grove I would have agreed with you but since then how many years of mortgage repayments have we paid off in advance ? Didnt we just announce yearly profits of £56m recently ? The money has been there to significantly upgrade the team without buying superstars but wenger has refused to do so and he must rightly take the flak for that decision.
Secondly, as I pointed out before, we had a record of winning trophies in the immediate years before wenger's arrival. This club had set standards that others have followed long before wenger had ever been heard about. Has he raised the expections ? The answer is of course yes but you cite fans demands of finishing in the top 2 every season and label them as spoilt bastards (an opinion I take real issue with) for these expectations and yet you totally ignore the fact that we havent finished in the top 2 for a number of seasons now.
As a fan I do not expect us to win the league every season or finish in the top 2 every season or even every 2nd season but at the same time I dont feel it unreasonable to ask questions of a manager that has now presided over the longest barren run at the club for the past 25 years. How long or at what stage do you feel it is reasonable to start questioning him ?
Anyway I would suggest that the relevent news item has been greeted with humour more than anything else by the fans. Yes he is viwed by many in the game as a moral crusader so from that position it does make a mockery of his views but really and truly I dont think any of us gives a fcuk if he is shagging every 39 year old woman in paris as long as he is doing his job properly
