The admission cost kills atmosphere myth (21/1)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The admission cost kills atmosphere myth (21/1)

Usual thread starter – Were you at Fulham on Saturday? Where did that new Adebayor chant come from? Is it possible to make a big noise sitting on your behinds? In truth, I suspect Spurs will manage it tomorrow night. In which case, Ashburton should be a cauldron, no excuses. How rarely that happens though. Do you think the crowd will manage to find their voice when AC Milan visit in February, or will we be too tense?

I was at the Fulham game and was startled by how fantastic the atmosphere was, especially given that it was a pretty easy match on a Saturday afternoon. I think the fact it was a London tie requiring a few away credits to get tickets helped, as that means only some of the more committed people who’ve been to a few away ties could go.

This new Adebayor chant also helped, I think it's genius – the entire stand was singing it for minutes at a time because it’s so easy to sing (you almost speak it rather than shout it, and don’t get out of breath because it’s quite slow so everyone young and old could join in very easily). The chant started somewhere over on the left hand side of the stand and gradually filtered over until everyone was singing it. It will sound absolutely outstanding if we can get it going at the Grove. Much like the ‘by far the greatest team’ chant, it's slow enough that everyone can sing in time. I can't wait!

Newcastle and Tottenham fans

While it is true that Newcastle and Tottenham will get behind their teams in the upcoming cup games against us, it is also true that if things are not going their way, both these sets of fans are quite willing to boo their own players off the pitch.

I was at the fulham game saturday too, i agree about the adebayor song, it was quality! This might sound sad but i had hairs standing up on the back of my neck, cant remember the last time that happened over a players song! I was sitting in the bottom left corner and near the home fans! and must let you all know, most of the fulham boys where watching us Rather than the players! Another point i want to add is, its great to see the players making a effort to come over to us and show there appreciation to us for making the trip, to often last season they would walk straight off! Think this may be down to big willy! Keep it up lads!
