as we came second in our group does this mean the first leg is home and second away?

If so it may be worth looking at flights for all 4 destinations....

We haven't got a great record against German clubs have we? I hope we get Barca, we're going out anyway with our mickey mouse defence so at least we can say we lost to the best blah blah blah. Watching us against Partizan really brings it home just how shit we are. Yes we're top of the PL now, partly because of others failings but I guarantee we'll end up 15 points or more behind the champions.

I don't think that you will get many arguments with that order.
Personally, I reckon we will have got a right result if we end up with a German team.

Give me Barca or Real any day! If were going to get knocked out let it be them and let it be early.

I just want us to concentrate on whats important and thats the leauge. The longer were in the champoins leauge the longer wenger gets his balls polished by the board!

Come on Barca or Real! Wana see a big game at the grove!

On a more serious note, the only thing that is positive about coming second in the group is that you get to play the first leg at home.

I like this as it gives you a chance to build a lead going into the second leg, plus more important than that is the fact that if the scores are still level after 180 minutes, you get another 30 minutes to score an away goal to see you through.

Anyone who remembers getting knocked out to Benfica in 1992 will totally understand the advantage gained from playing the second leg away from home. It felt like a tuck up that night, as this rule is crazy and such an unfair advantage. We may need to take advantage of ourselves though.

I was at the Benfica match, not a nice night!

Tbh the home or away we will be better away. We dont have any home advantage!

I don't really care about who we will draw. One of the German sides should be preferable, because then we would have more chance to proceed. Getting knocked out by Barça or Real could be an advantage for the league title race. If we're not already out of that race by February.

By the second leg, we'll know whether we've won the league cup and there will only be 8 more matches in the league as well. So we'll have a pretty good idea of where this team is by then and hopefully we'll still be in the title race. :barscarf:

Not sure it's worth looking at flights just yet. My understanding is that the round of 16 is spread over 4 weeks so it isn't just a case of planning that it's the Tuesday or the Wednesday. You could be out by a week.....

I'd prefer one of the Germans. Partly that I've already been to Barca and Real but also because there are more travel alternatives to Gelsenkirchen and Munich.
