Just wanted to add, in Nasri's defense I think he was largely closed out of the game by the Man U tactics. JS Park's inclusion in the squad was to give a two-way presence to shut down Nasri, I think. He didn't get a lot of time on the ball, and let's not forget he had the only shot that actually troubled VDS (that, had a player with a little more composure been on the rebound, would have been converted).

Nasri should have been played in the middle from the word go tonight. He hardly had a touch of the ball in the first 20mins.Barriecuda wrote:Just wanted to add, in Nasri's defense I think he was largely closed out of the game by the Man U tactics. I thought Theo should have started tonight as well.

Yup I agree, when Nasri barely had a touch by halftime (or earlier) he shoulda been moved into a position where he could have had more of an impact. But hey, this is Wenger after all - he's not the type to make such a move.MickeyFabs wrote:Nasri should have been played in the middle from the word go tonight. The match report on pravda is fucking hilarious. Check out some of the opening paragraphs...
Seriously, does anyone actually buy this shit?! What is the target audience of that site? 8 year olds who don't actually watch the game?
...there was little to split the sides. Arsenal’s performance was combative and controlled. Though we have said it before, on another night they would have gleaned something from the game.
Yes rookie keeper Wojciech Szczesny made more saves than Edwin van der Sar but this is Old Trafford and the volume of the travelling Arsenal fans at full time suggested they still had pride in their side after this evening.
A fifth defeat of the season is a big blow to Arsenal’s title hopes but this performance means they can still claim that very quality - hope – for the remainder of the campaign.

The most annoying thing of the lot is that we would have won that game if we'd just upped it 10%! United did a job on us for sure - again!
As for the ref - for once I thought (apart from the harsh penalty) that he actually favoured us and could have easily booked 3 Arsenal players before half time but didn't.

I wouldn't expect pravda to slate us but that is fucking appalling, especially the bolded bit. We were anything but "controlled."
First half we seemed to fall into the trap of trying so hard to prove we weren’t the soft touches Evra made us out to be that we forgot about actually playing any football. But instead of doing that just by standing up for ourselves when needed & being counted we just made constant petty fouls and kept diving in as if to prove we weren’t scared. “Aggressionâ€
same old thing week after week!
it really is getting boring watching Arsenal! Attack has to take at least 50 passes up against oppostion which just sticks 9 players in the box. Result opposition gets ball hoofs down field where we just have two defenders against 2 forwards ball goes between our two defenders who fall on their arses. Result goal against.
I think this the worst Arsenal side I've watched for years!

IU4GN,
I'm not even sure it was a case of us falling into the 'Evra trap'. It's quite simply down to the fact that most of our team just can't tackle - and that includes our DM!!
Those on here that think we were 'unlucky' - and I include Wenger in that - really need to learn the game they love and follow. Although they were nowhere near their best, United could and would have won by 3 or 4 were it not for Rooney's missed penalty and a couple of great saves from our goalkeeper.
Indeed, I actually thought that it might prove to be our night, once United couldn't get the second, if only we could wake ourselves up from the slumber. Alas and predictably though, we created the square root of fuck all yet again and Van Dar Saar might as well have been on his Christmas holidays, so little was he called upon.
Whereas normally I'm shitting myself weeks before we play the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea, nowadays I don't even get anxious as I know we are unlikely to get the result. Tonight was exactly the same and as soon as the first goal went in, any nerves I may have had building up quickly disappeared because it is clear that this Arsenal team don't have the character to overcome adversity.
