Way harsh - he bears some responsibiltiy but really Clichy should have closed down Nani better nad blocked the corss more decisively and for Squillaci to let Park hed the ball without leaving the gorund was utterly inexcusable. For once the only guy you really couildn't blame at the back was our new Number Fifty-Three

Completely and utterly disagree Martin.

Five yards into our half there was absolutely no need for Kos to come charging up for the header like that. Song aint to be trusted to tie his own laces but that was his job, not the lovely Laurents.

He can tackle yes, he can head the ball yes but it's always 'last ditch'

Let me ask you one thing, did u notice Vidic tonite?

No is the answer........and he was probably their man of the match. Know what i mean?

As for Clichy all i can say is, the shit he's got tonite from this forum is totally wrong.

If you were bending over in the shower after the Homosexual Cup Final for Queers you wouldn;t have been more exposed.

I don't disagree entirely Selsdon - the thing is you attack and defend as a team. My point was that Clichy's failure to deal with Nani and particulary Squillaci's horrible reaction to the ball in the area were more directly respsonsible. The fact is that if either of those two do their job the goal is not scored no matter what Koscielny does.

We could go further and point out that the real problem is the lack of a real top-flight defensive midfielder sweeping in front of the back four with regularity to disrupt attacks in the center of the park and let the denfenders sit behind him and defend what he does not sweep up.

Hmmm... said it before and I'll say it again.... Kos looks good when no pressure is applied to him, he looks composed on the ball against a team playing a 4-5-1.... but let's face it, otherwise he's pony, along with plenty of others. A clearout is needed, but Wenger is far too arrogant, too stubborn to admit it.... let's just blame the pitch... tosser

He has some good qualities like being good in the air and in the tackle but he's being found out because he is not ready to play in this league and that is the managers fault for buying someone out of the French league with hardly any experience in that league, he's not been playing for long so its madness to play him like this.

The frustrating pattern for our club at the moment is being obsessed with turing attacking midfielders into full backs and not having utterly ruthless central defenders. Do they exist? Yes but you have to pay for them and until we buy defenders that just DEFEND we will always be bullied/never turn up on a regular basis when it matters...
Oh and also the pitch was crap
Blame everything else other than the truth and the facts..

What he would do is, he would manage to get away but would wait just round the corner and think he was safe and then get caught out again.

my main worry is that the mistakes Kos makes are always on the front foot
pushing forward too much and trying to win balls that aren't there to win
exactly the type of mistakes that Verminator makes

not sure if they can play together
before we had Toure and Gallas who both sat off
now if we play Kos+Verm we're gonna have two defenders who both chase the ball too much

Awfuly witty banter guys. But reading the highlighted sentence, Mac, the complete opposite is the case. I always participate when things aren't going too well. On the other hand, this place tends to dry up a bit when things are going well, as the anti' wengers trawl the daily rags in the attempt to dig up negative, non-stories ( see;- ''Eastmond'' thread  ). The reason this thread popped back up is because it is only fair that when someone criticises a player before he's had a chance, they deserve to have their face rubbed in it 8) . Well done 1989 :barscarf:

Likewise, you're being a tad premature if you think Koscielny has "made it" yet.
