usual thread starter… Fair comment really. Tuesday night certainly doesn’t make Arsenal a bad team. I do have a memory of Man Utd’s full strength team being beaten 5-0 in the league at St James’ Park and still going on to win the title that season. No-one talked much about that defeat at the end of the season. There were good reasons for the defeat v Spurs, not least Arsenal’s weakened line-up and the greater motivation of the home side. I was not surprised to lose, although the margin of victory was unfortunate. Certainly haven’t lost faith in the team though, but nor sure anyone else has really.

Yeah that was in the 96/97 season and if I recall correctly, the week after man utd were beat 6-3 by southampton and still won the title.
I guess this shows that its not all doom and gloom especially as it wasn't are full strength squad and it was only the league cup.

The more worrying thing for me though is that these kind of ties really show are strength in depth and do we really think these players can step up to the plate if required.
We've really struggled with injuries this season and many of our players seem to be prone to injury at the moment and I really don't think it would hurt to invest in 1 or 2 players in the January transfer window especially in defence where we were a shambles on Tuesday.

Although the Spuds played really well and we didn`t play it was a blip that all teams go through every now and then.
Coventry went to Old Trafford in the Carling Cup and beat Man U 2-0 how humiliating is that but I don`t remember the hysteria that we had with Tuesdays result. We beat the Spuds twice this season in the Premiership and we are 27 points ahead of them at present so lets get things into prespective.
Of course it`s imperative we beat Newcastle Saturday and Tuesday and if we do last Tuesdays` result will fade into an unpleasant but not too important memory.
