However, there is something about Wilshere that makes him seem a bit edgy and so capable of anything.

My Dad has said for a while we have the next Gascoigne on our hands and I am starting to agree with him.

The edge may make him a star but it is just as likely to be the downfall of him.

Really

I've met the guy and he seems alright. His interviews suggest he has his head screwed on too.

These are just minor incidents that teenagers are involved in all the time. He's gonna be fine. :barscarf:

Yes, really.

I have met Tony Adams and he seemed a nice bloke. He did however also drive cars into peoples houses on Sunday afternoons and was a raging alcoholic.

I have also met Paul Merson. He seemed a really pleasant if slightly shy person. It didn't stop him betting his life away, shoving powder up his nose, knocking his wife about and becoming a full on alcoholic.

I am sure many a person have met Gascoigne during his more lucid moments and thought he was a great guy too.

I am not saying that he has got to this stage yet but the warning signs are there.

Yes, the incidents so far have been minor but so were the little scrapes Adama, Merson and Gascoigne got into as teenagers before they went totaly tonto and saw their lives implode around them.

Don't be so naive to think it won't happen to Wilshere simply because he is the Great White Hope at Arsenal.

Fair points, but Im not worried at all. Every english teenage boy has got in a drunken fight and/or abused a cabby. Sorry **** but I've even called a cabbie a *word censored* because he wanted the fair upfront and wouldn't let us bring our drinks in. (fair enough thinking about it now, but I did pour my beer allover his floor anyway)

Too much money, too much ego, too full of his own self importance. Like many young footballers of today seems to have lost touch with reality.
Unfortunately for us fans of Arsenal he appears to have his finger on the self destruct button.

and another thing, £50,000 a week, thats fucking shocking
if you consider the fact the he's probably the player with most appearances for us this season and the fact the he contributed a lot to the team, i'd say that whatever RvP gets a week is shocking, but not jack wilshere.
its more his age for me though bg,

an 18 year old should not be making that sort of money at really what is the start of his playing days

Morally you are right of course.

Realistically though, if we don't pay him it someone else will and more!

Imagine if a player like jack had come through city's or chelsea's ranks, he would be easily on 100k, probably more at city.

Woah woah woah... because hes been 'involved' in the abuse of a cabbie and a little scrap outside a nightclub?

I agree with Arsenal 1991, hes got some way to go yet. I see what percy is saying but imo its a bit harsh to judge the lad based on what happened to those who have gone before.

What he would/wouldn't earn at another club be it Citeh or anywhere else is irrelevant.

To introduce them into the arguement in an attempt to justify what he gets at Arsenal is limp and without any basis.

The fact is, he plays for Arsenal, is in a very priviledged position yet seems to be making a rod for hs own back already.

Did anyone watch the show on ITV last night, come rain come shine? The dad reminded me of Wenger, his son can never do wrong even when proved with hard facts.

I am not judging the lad, I am saying thought that there are a few warning signs.

Also, all genius comes with a touch of madness and there certainly is some genius in Jack.

Does anyone know what he was on previously?

50K does sound alot but with the 50% tax on those earning £150K+ a year means he's only getting £25K.
We've seen wages doubled recently because of this tax rule brought in 2009.
Aren't Citeh paying nearly £200K+ a week to players like Yaya Toure which is effectively £100K+?

I reckon jack was on something 'measley' like 10k a week under his yoof team wages.
