As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I am simply saying it would be best for all concerned if he kept his head down and continued to improve at what he is already very good at.
However, I am wondering if some would give the same "give the young lad a break, he's only doing what teenagers do" excuse if he was playing for certain other clubs?
yup agreed percy
and as much as i hate the *word censored*, giggs and scholes are perfect excamples of gettting your head down and doing some work
You have to hope that a senior player or someone at the club will have a chat with Wilshere and explain there has to be a certain way to live if you are someone who is in the media glare.
With the money he is on, Wilshere could employ a driver for the night, and not have to worry about standing around trying to catch a cab.
Perhaps a minder, some one to step in when the inevitable idiot tries to square up to Wilshere in a club to impress his mates.
Little "attention to detail" things like that which reduce the chances of any incident.

I doubt he respects any senior player at the football club, I know I certainly wouldn't when they have achieved fuck all and aren't here 5 minutes.
Campbell was the only one but he's gone. Judging from his Twitter he respects Ferdinand......
It's just minor incidents, and nothing has been proved except the fact he goes out a bit too late sometimes. Wenger will always publicly protect his players and he has always done it. I'm not worried with Wilshere, I'm more worried by the fact The Sun always try to make a big story from nothing with him.
I think jack may be assosiating himself with the wrong type of people outside of football.
Saw Ledley King in westfeild shopping center today, and the gang of "rudeboys" he assosiates himself with is unbelievable like the cast of kidulthood!!!!!
Gotta remember Jack is still a kid, and there arent many of us who can say we didnt get into the odd bit of trouble as teenagers.
But he is getting paid an awful lot and has to try harder to be a better role model for the kids.
I dont think that its only minor incidents its just that he is a little star evolving in front of our eyes that is going the right way of ballsing it right up.
Same old story from me, way too much money, given to young players.
Sort it Jack please, Thank you..

I think you're correct here, but he is 18 and what 18-year-old wants a minder to baby-sit them? He may well be willing to sit down and listen to a Tony Adams or something certainly and while I agree a minder would be the best possible option I think we resist that idea now at least.
I think we need to be careful here. Boys certainly will be boys, and Jack should still be able to enjoy growing up like anyone else. But he is also being paid a great deal of money already and and being invested in by his employers as a big part of our future going forward. It is not unreasonable for them to ask for and expect he exercise more responsibility and discretion in his growing up behavior than his friends who are not fairly highly paid professional footballers.
I think what the lad needs to be made to understand is that if he continues down this alleged path he is jeopardizing his future - his hopes his dreams and his aspirations first and foremost and to hope he genuienly understands that, perhaps enough to follow the course you suggest Quartz. Because if he blows it he will have a lifetime to regret it and that's got to be absolute hell.

Think he respects Cesc too. He's been heaping lots of praise on him lately. He also said Cesc was his role model.
Jack's been getting into trouble quite often but he's only 18 and will grow out of it soon enough.

Again a valid point maybe but what if he doesn't? His employers are investing an awful lot of money into him right now and counting on some sort of significant return and it's all being risked by this behavior.
I think Jack a terrific player and he seems a decent lad from seeing him on TV but he also is being counted on in a way normal 18-year-olds aren't fairly or otherwise, though it can be argued the paycheck he gets more than justifies his employers wanting him to be more responsible for himself and the club than most boys his age have to worry about being.
And if this alleged incident is true that's two of these now. Is it a crisis? No. But now is the time to try and correct this - not after it might actually be or truly is a crisis for him and/or Arsenal as well.
I notice people are buying this shit yet again, it's utter crap, I don't know Jack personally, but I know for a fact he never went out with this imaginary girl, his girlfriend who hes been with for quite a while now isnt even 20 yet!
