I'd rather buy Leighton Baines to be honest.
Clichy has been crap for two seasons now yet Wenger has never dropped him so what makes you think Wenger will now.
He hasn't really had anyone to drop him for.
Thats a lame excuse if Gibbs cant stay fit go out a buy a good left back
Im all for him dropping Clichy, Im just pointing out that Gibbs hasn't really given him the opportunity to. I agree that we should buy a left back anyway.

Been saying so long about Johan Djourou.. delighted for him. Phsyically has the potential to be a world beater, lets hope he gets a run in the team! As i said in the Chelsea pre-match thread, this fellah needs to play!

Djourou, up until now never really impressed me, but tonight he was awesome! He was agressive, never let Dorgbreath any time to turn face to our goal, was on par with any chav player on the physical battle, and made some brilliant interceptions.
If he plays like this all the time then him and TV are the CB pairing we need!
The only negative I could see is that in the beginning of the game he looked a bit impressed by Drogbreath. (Drogba's first shot that goes inches away from the far post, Djourou shouldn't have let him come this far and shouldn't have let him shoot.)

Come on then Yohann!!!

I agree, was pleased to see him line up today and was disappointed he didnt at Old Trafford. He offers something that we lack if Kos and Squillaci are together. Seems to bring out best in Kos like at WHL in the carling cup.

But also seem to remember Djourou scoring an og at Chelsea a few years back (but commendibly not letting his heas drop after and we won 2-1). Then again dont think Drogba played that day.

He was brilliant tonight, and has been the most solid center back this season. The whole back 4 were class tonight, koschielney made one mistake, but the work ethic was rite tonight hence the win.

He is the second best centre back at the club, after Vermaelen.
I just fear he is a bit of a Ledley King, forever plagued by dodgy knees, and has to play alternate games.

Him and Koscielny look our most solid partnership with TV out, offer the contrasting aggressive and sweeper combination which most good centre back partnerships are about.

I must say, thought ne played well earlier this year, seems to read the game well. Needs a good run in the team, and would I think be excellent along side TV.

The lad deserves to be first on the team sheet!

Agreed. I have to admit I didn't think he'd make it with us but it's clear now that he should be 1st choice. It is so frustrating seeing those 2 idiots ahead of him when it's clear he should be 1st choice. I felt Kos was at fault for the goal and to be honest I'd rather they recall Bartley from his loan spell as he simply isn't good enough. I just hope Djourou stays fit now as he needs a run of games.....

at last ,are my eyes decieving me or did an AFC centre back actually win a ball in the air? the boy done good and if he gets a run and stays injury free and focused may develop into something special.i like the way he reads the game and steps up to intercept ala adams.that takes timing and guts.chelsea tried to play it behind and between him and sagna on a few occasions and he was up to it.no backing off he stood his ground something we arnt used to seeeing and moan about alot .so come on lets get behind him,all of a sudden a back four of sagna djourou, vermalean and gibbs is a pleasant possibillity.how many goal scoring chances is clichy going to serve up this year for the opp
