As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

wenger keeps rewarding mediocre players, with long term contracts, WHY?? what have denilson, bendtner, eboue, etc etc really done to earn these lucrative deals??? if im average at my work, id be told to buck up, or we,ll get someone else in who dose a better job, but not with wenger, its ok to be average. as for better back up right backs, how corluka, neville, ferreria, just of the top of my head. eboue dosent deserve his place at our great club.

well if your going to reward wenger with long term contracts then he may as well reward eboue with a long term contract.

I'm not a huge fan of Eboue, but few teams have a better right back than him, let alone a better reserve right back (did anyone see Ferreira getting torn a new one on Monday?).

Players like Diaby, Flaps, Denilson, Bendtner etc sumise up our downfall much better than Eboue. They lack skill, they don't have the pace or speed of thought to play in our system, they appear to have no passion (they plod along at the same pace, regardless of whether we're 3 - 0 up or 1 - 0 down), and they get paid an obscene amount giving them no incentive to cement a place in the team, or move to a side better suiting their abilities.

Yes there are worse (and in diaby's case far worse) players than eboue but signing this guy to a long term contract sums up everything wrong with the modern day Arsenal :( Last summer when most were clamouring for new signings (inc me) I suggested that it was equally important that wenger rid the club of the sub-standard shite that is now so common in our squad :( and we now see eboue, bedtner, flaps, denilson and diaby on long term deals  I never expected wenger to get rid of all these players in 1 season but what he is doing by tying these players down to long term deals is pricing other clubs out of buying them cos the value of the player is higher due to years remaining on contracts plus our players are paid so handsomely that they wont be willing to piss off elsewhere and lose out on money, Decisions like this depress me tbh

believe or not mr.ebouè played since his arrival more than 180 games for AFC more than 30 in champions league
question isnt why extend his contract
real question is which manager will put him in the field 180 times between premier league, FA Cup, League Cup and champions league?
the problem isnt the boy (i knew in austria this summer really nice to the fans), the problem is the one gives him time and chanches to play for this Club

Giving a back up right back a 3 year contract  .Have we no right backs coming through our so called great academy? We need to clear the deadwood like Eboue Denilson Diaby Bender and Vela off the payroll. And bring in quality.

Cesc wants to leave because Eboue got a new contact? Thought it was because he wanted to play for his boyhood club.

Seriously though, you need squad players of certain standard. Wes Brown and Ferreira are examples of similar types of player at other clubs. Its Eboue, we spend 5m on someone else or some bring through a 17 year old with no experience.

There is history of Wenger giving long-term contracts then selling them for max value.

With Al the Clown likely to leave, who would the club have as a replacement clown for all the funny pictures, interviews and videos? Of course he needs a new contract :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: The people that run our club are *word censored*.
