Newcastle FA Cup game

Post by Chippy »

Surprised there is no thread talking about yesterday's game :?
We looked like we were coming back to our best especially in the second half. Ade probably deserves MOTM but gael was pretty faultless yesterday again. The purple one may not have scored but scared the crap out of them every time he got the ball. Theo was much better in the second half and dare i say it Senderos was solid yesterday. Having said that, Owen and Smith were shite.

Hoyte was srtuggling a bit against Duff but did OK. Cesc was still not on top form but at least found a red shirt more often than not. The Flanimal was superb. 8) :D

Yeah the boys responded well yesterday, Im very pleased.
And Theo got a lot of praise on MOTD which i thought was maybe a little over the top, but he looked alot better.

Adebayor looked like he had a point to prove, look at his second goal, there was no way he was gonna pass that to a team-mate for a tap in.

Thought the 2nd half performance was a lot better and before this season I never thought I'd be saying this but Flamini made such a difference in midfield. Nothing spectacular but he gets the tackles in, wins the ball back and plays a simple pass to Cesc/Hleb etc. He's doing a great job of the holding role in midfield so credit where it's due. Theo got better as the game went on and it was good to see him get an ovation from the crowd as he went off after a shit week.

I was very pleased with the lads yesterday. passing it around liek the good old days although its still not quite there yet.

Clichy i feel yet again was my man of the match, I feel cole's deartutre was the best thing that could of happened and i thank him for that.

Fabregas gave the ball away a bit yesterday but still had a decent game. Walcott i agree got better as the game went on and deserved the praise of the pundits. I was sitting right next to the necastle fans and they shook my hand afte and said the best tam one i that was fuckign lovely to hear haha. Also very true.
well done lads, as soccer am would say, BOUNCEBACKABILITY

AGREE WITH MOST OF THE ABOVE. THE GEORDIES WERE GOOD IN THE FIRST HALF, WHILST WE WERE A BIT PONDEROUS. IN THE SECOND HALF WE IMPROVED AND ONCE WE GOT THE FIRST, BEGAN TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE GAME.

I CONCUR THAT CLICHY WAS OUTSTANDING AGAIN,; FLAMINI WAS FANTASTIC AND, IT MUST BE SAID, SENDEROS HAD A VERY GOOD MATCH.

AS FOR ADE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S GOING TO TAKE TO CONVINCE SOME PEOPLE. INDEED, I BELIEVE SOME WILL NEVER ADMIT THEY WERE WRONG BECAUSE ALTHOUGH HE IS SCORING LOTS OF GOALS NOW, I STILL KEEP HEARING/READING DIFFERING REASONS AS TO WHY 'HE ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH'.

AT FIRST THE REASON WAS THAT ADE MISSED TOO MANY EASY CHANCES. AS HIS GOALS-TO-CHANCES RATIO HAS IMPROVED THIS SEASON (WHICH NO-ONE CAN DENY), IT WAS THE LUDICROUS CLAIM THAT HE WAS LAZY. NOW YOU CAN ACCUSE HIM OF LOTS OF STUFF BUT BEING LAZY IS DEFINATELY NOT ONE OF THEM.

THAT WAS SOON FOLLOWED BY THE ACCUSATION THAT, LIKE HENRY, ADE IS ARROGANT AND PLAYING THE ROLE OF 'BILLY BIG BOLLOCKS". AGAIN, THAT IS NOT SOMETHING I HAVE NOTICED AT MATCHES AND HAS ONLY ARISEN SINCE THE BENDTNER INCIDENT. SOMETIMES A PLAYER JUST CAN'T WIN WITH THE FANS. IF HE ISN'T PUTTING HIMSELF ABOUT, HE 'DOESN'T WANT IT' AND LACKS PASSION. WHEN HE DOES, AND SHOUTS AT TEAM-MATES OR DEMONSTRATES EVEN ANY INKLING OF DISAPPOINTMENT AT A BAD PASS, WRONG CHOICE ETC. THEN HE IS LABELLED AS GETTING TOO BIG-HEADED.

THERE WAS EVEN THE ACCUSATION THAT WITH ADE IN OUR SIDE, WE STOPPED PASSING AND BEGAN 'ONLY PLAYING THE LONG BALL', WHEREAS SOME OF US ARGUED THAT HAVING ADE IN THE TEAM IN FACT GAVE US THE OPTION WE DIDN'T HAVE PREVIOUSLY: TO PLAY MORE THAN ONE WAY WITHIN A MATCH (A PLAN B) BECAUSE ADE HAS MUCH MORE TO HIS GAME THAN JUST BEING A 'BIG MAN'.

FINALLY THERE IS THE CLAIM THAT ANYONE WOULD SCORE GOALS IN THIS TEAM. REALLY? HAVE PEOPLE SEEN THE WIDE RANGE AND TYPES OF GOALS ADEBAYOR HAS SCORED THIS SEASON? HEADERS WHERE HE HAS JUMPED AND HUNG IN THE AIR BEFORE POWERING HOME (ALAN SMITH WAS THE LAST TIME WE HAD ONE OF THOSE); ONES WHERE HE IS BEATING DEFENDERS FOR SKILL AND PACE ALA HENRY; SHOTS FROM OUTSIDE THE BOX LIKE THE VOLLEY AT THE LANE; TAP-INS; HE EVEN ASSISTS IN SETTING UP MANY OF THE OTHER GOALS WE HAVE SCORED.

SOME ARSENAL FANS HAVE OFTEN WISHED THAT WE HAD A DROGBA TYPE PLAYER IN OUR LINE UP WHO NOT ONLY GIVES US A PHYSICAL PRESENCE UP FRONT, BUT SCORES PLENTY OF GOALS AS WELL. BELIEVE IT OR NOT - AND DESPITE MY ARGUMENTS, SOME OF YOU STILL WON'T - WE FINALLY HAVE ONE IN THE SHAPE OF ADEBAYOR. 8) AND GUESS WHAT? WHETHER YOU'LL ADMIT IT OR NOT, HE IS DOING A BLOODY BRILLIANT JOB FOR ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB!! 8)

Totally agree about Adebayor, he seems to be the complete forward. Good at everything a striker should be good at and can play a very versatile game. I have to admit to not being convinced at first but he's won me over completely.

IHH

There have been times this season when Ade has been lazy, arroagnt, poor (Adebarndoor), however he has improved as the season has progressed and now looks like a great player. Reminds me of someone else who's name begins with H...........  :D

First half Newcastle caused us a few problems, but after the break we came back too nearly our best. Flamini made a bid difference to us yesterday and i know it may be a surprise but Phil had a decent game seemed very confident. I hope he is learning a little from Gallas.

Absolutely spot-on - although you forgot the "he can't use his left foot" which was completely shattered yesterday.

I sit at the North end of the Stadium and I have to say that I thought our fans were as quiet as they have been all season. Having said that we heard nothing from the barcodes after the first 10 minutes at our end.

Aye, if Ade hadn't been on the pitch against Everton, we would have scored our first two goals by passing it around... wait a second
