The Wonder Of You
Now personally I think this is a great choice for an Arsenal anthem...The lyrics appropriate and uplifting, it has a great inspiaring chorus.
But it is annoying that no sod sings it. I've tried when I've gone by lifting the scarf during it and trying to join in but nobody else does.
When You'll Never Walk Alone is played at Celtic and Liverpool it is very impressive espcially for the big European Nights.
Could you imagine Ashburton on a big European night, everyone standing, scarves raised and singing with heart and soul...if you remember Liverpool vs Chelsea in the Champions League semi or Celtic vs Barcelona a few years back it really does put the hairs on the back of the neck up.
I really hope it works over time but somehow doubt it!

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A REASON TO BRING THIS POINT UP.This Is The Daybreak wrote:Now personally I think this is a great choice for an Arsenal anthem...The lyrics appropriate and uplifting, it has a great inspiaring chorus.

NOW I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FAN OF THE CHOICE, BUT IT FINALLY OCCURRED TO ME THE OTHER DAY JUST WHY 'THE WONDER OF YOU' REALLY WASN'T AN APPROPRIATE SONG TO HAVE AS AN ANTHEM.
YOU JUST CAN'T SING IT WITHOUT THE MUSIC!!
EVERY PROPER ANTHEM SHOULD BE GENERATED EASILY AND BE SUNG WITHOUT THE NEED FOR MUSICAL BACKING, YET I'M AFRAID THAT JUST DOESN'T APPLY WITH OUR ONE. EVEN IF WE ATTEMPTED IT, THE TROUBLE WE WOULD HAVE KEEPING THE TUNE IN TIME WOULD BE PLENTY AND I'D HATE TO THINK OF HOW SOME OF THE HORRENDOUSLY SUNG MELODIES WOULD SOUND LIKE!!

And imagine Match of the Day having to feature it.
Dammit, recycled thread or not, I say we put in a pitch for it.

Exactly IHH - Your drug-induced ramblings ocassionaly produce a few gems!

The song is not structured in a way so as to make it anthem-like. It remains a pop ballad. I am sure someone who knows the technical side of music structure would be able to explain why.
As usual, the club fuck things up and we have to put with the consequences.
As said before, this is typical of a club who just can't connect with some of it's supporters (and if you look at the board is it any wonder (of you)

Seeing as we are recycling posts made before on this thread I will again say that I think the song "A Goal" which was the B side of one of our cup final songs a few years ago would be the best choice. I think it has the right type of air to it plus it details past glories and for a club so proud of its history then I think it would be the dogs nuts
I wouldnt want a pop song as our anthem cos it is often hard to get the crowd joined in . I also havent heard the song that some of you are suggesting but will check it out
