Defending the defenceless NICK BENDTNER

some decent responses here and food for thought

Post by Herd »

I honestly think he can be one of Europes best strikers if injuries attitude dont get in the way but would agree probably not at Arsenal because of the way we play.

Ive defended him for years but blood did boil when he whined to the press abt being benched.....wenger will never forgive him but will he play him enough to attract a decent bid for him; doubtful !

He keeps having bad games cos he's way out of his depth.

He keeps being accused of arrogance cos of the shite he comes out with.

He keeps being accused of arrogance cos on the pitch he can't back up the shite he comes out with.

He keeps being accused of laziness cos his work rate is appalling.

All in all - he's not a goal threat, he doesn't rough up opposing defenders leaving them wound up or worn out. He couldn't track back to save his life. He thinks he's Dennis Bergkamp with his forays into midfield and his poxy little lay offs. He is not up to the standard needed to win trophies.

AGREE WITH THE ABOVE, WORST FORWARD PLAYER AT ARSENAL.

To be honest i do wonder what would happen to Bendtner if he got a run in the first eleven of say 10 games (not as a sub) dont get me wrong he has been shit but it must be hard in and out of the side or coming on as a sub all the time

Bendtner is quite a good header of the ball.

About 15% of the time he can play a very good through ball when he sits deeper behind another striker.

Once or twice a season he scores with a long range shot.

But

His first touch is not of the quality I would expect from an Arsenal player.

He is a big tall man, but does not use his strength well to hold off other players.

He is slow.

I think it best for Arsenal and Bendtner if he is sold in the summer and perhaps he will have more success abroad as a number 9, with a decent number 10 playing off him.

I'm not too sure about that. :?

Maybe when unchallenge? but even then he wastes so many free headers.
When challenged never wins the ball.

As many have pointed out I forgot about him blocking OUR goalbound shots on the line...

He should be sold. Probably ok in the German league or somewhere where the style would suit.

Bendtner is another player who will always get unfair stick.. the fellah needs a run of games, last season he got those run of games and was our second top goalscorer, getting vital goals at Stoke, Hull and Wolves home to name a few.

I can understand why he is not everyone's cup of tea, but the boy has talent, i would rather a confident player who believes in his own ability that a shy quiet one who dont say a peep. Chesney is EXTREMELY confident for his age, he never gets knocked.

I like Bendtner

Big difference mate - Szczesney backs it up on the pitch with good solid performances. He does all that could be asked of a keeper, whereas Bender is largely ineffective and puts in lazy, half-arsed performances virtually every week.

And Chesney?? Haven't you got a Z on your keyboard?? Actually you need two Z's for his name don't you . . . . . . .

I am hoping this thread is a joke. It makes me feel sick when I see Bendtner miss sitter after sitter and the smug look on his face chewing his gum getting paid probably 50k + a year.

He is useless and wouldn't get in the Tottenham team which is saying something.

If only!! But even that would be too much mate!! His yearly salary works out at roughly £2.5 million. Not bad for an average footballer eh??

Just imagine - £200,000 grand turning up in your bank account at the end of every month. Imagine the smile on your face when you went to the cashpoint and requested "Balance with Receipt".

Do footballers even use banks at this point? I figured gold bars would be a little easier...

Anyway, Bendtner has the confidence of a top striker. Many solid strikers have a smugness that's required of the position; that confidence helps you tower over other players and blast the ball by keepers. However, Bendtner has missed a lot of chances and really isn't worthy of his own personal praise. He had a handful of goals last season, but for anyone who watched the games, they were almost all tap-ins or rebounds that went straight to him, goals that pretty much any CF in the Prem' would finish. He offers little dynamism and doesn't suit the Arsenal mould IMO.

He would be better on your typical 4-5-1 team, like Denmark, where he is used solely as a traditional CF - headers and the like. I think he'd do better on a lower-skill team, because he would be allowed to take more touches and would not be expected to pass, which suits him better than Arsenal's one-touch, free flowing football.

I believe CFs on Wenger's Arsenal require a much more diverse skill set than Bendtner has. Henry, Eduardo, and RVP provide perfect examples. They could (can) dribble, shoot hard, pass brilliantly, head the ball, finish with either foot, and have a clinical record when faced with "must score" opportunities. (This is also why Arshavin played well at this position a couple seasons ago).

Arsenal's CFs are essentially a hybrid of a #10 with a #9, and Bendtner unfortunately only has the talents of a good (not great) #9.

Apparently the price of Gold has slipped from it's high point of a little while back.
