Defending the defenceless NICK BENDTNER

Bendtner has the attributes of a Great Dane.

And I do mean the doggie variety rather than the international footballer variety.

I can understand why he is not everyone's cup of tea, but the boy has talent, i would rather a confident player who believes in his own ability that a shy quiet one who dont say a peep. Chesney is EXTREMELY confident for his age, he never gets knocked.

I like Bendtner
Big difference mate - Szczesney backs it up on the pitch with good solid performances. He does all that could be asked of a keeper, whereas Bender is largely ineffective and puts in lazy, half-arsed performances virtually every week.

And Chesney?? Haven't you got a Z on your keyboard?? Actually you need two Z's for his name don't you . . . . . . .
Bender? Spell his name correctly before taking the piss elsewhere!

Szczesney was not solid at Ipswich, he could easily have been punished on a few occasions and got very lucky. He has played minimul games this season. Bendtner does not get to play every week and as i said he had a run of games last season and look what happend.

Calm down Wizza. I know how to spell Bendtner - I just prefer to call him Bender cos I think he's a bit of an onanist. Which is why he doesn't get to play every week.

I like Bendtner too, but that doesn't mean he is good enough for Arsenal. The question is, how many of our rivals would be after him if we made him available? None in my view, it would be the Sunderlands and the Birminghams and may be Stoke, that is his level - - - - not Arsenal!!

Nicely said. I think he's a good fourth/fifth choice maybe for us at best, and even then only if he is willing to be that and give his best in that role. And he isn't so that's that for me.

The thing is, I do feel sorry for players like Bendtner, Vela, even walcott. They would be much better as a striker in a 442. With Formations you should change your formation to suit your players or sign players who fit in with the formation, Wenger has done neither.

Exactly.

Turnip is not tactically flexible enough, which is why we're seeing the worst of Bendtner and Vela. He only plays one formation regardless of the personnel. Vela is far more suited to a 4-4-2 so whenever he's on the pitch we should switch to that formation. Having Vela play left wing isn't good for anyone (except the opposition).

Bendtner should be used as a plan B target man to lump the ball up to when the endless passing tactic fails to work. Playing the fast paced passing game with RvP works but doing it with Bendtner doesn't simply because Bendtner is not a possession type striker. When you have Bendtner alone up top you have to change your style in order to get the best out of him.

Watch us play with the same 4-5-1 formation tomorrow with Bendtner as lone striker and play passing football (which won't work) then lose.

As I have said on many a thread the formation we play suits Fabregas and RVP most which is fine and dandy when they are both playing but how many times have they in the past year or so?
Sagna, Eboue, Clichy, Gibbs, Walcott, Arshavin, Diaby, Bendtner & Vela all suffer when we play this formation when Fabregas and RVP are not playing. Nasri can slip into the Fabregas role when he is out but we have no one to fill the RVP roll. Wenger needs to be more addaptible in his formations when players are fit or not
