Booing is the new applause

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Booing is the new applause

Post by Matt_the_gooner »

I thought the atmosphere at the chelski game was amazing i especialy thought the booing had effect on the chelski players i reckon if we realy want to make the atmophere at ashburton grove as intimidating as possible instead of having quieter periods when we dont have the ball whistling and booing should become the norm.

Great shout, the booing / whistling stopped the atmosphere dying while we weren't singing / on the ball. Need to keep the songs going longer and louder but getting there.

I remember a post montsh ago about what we cam have as arsenal, chelsea have flags, liver pool have the song.

We could become the club that has deffening whistle when ever away team is on the ball. Was good on sunday, agree tho we need more songs (well not more, just remember some that we have always had :) and sing them

Thought the whistles were great (but not in the Rocket afterwards! My ears are still ringing!!). I thought it was intimidating and got everyone fired up. If we want to really make the Grove a fortress we need to recreate that sort of atmsophere more often.

All we need now is Red Scetion 2...................

How long before whistles are banned like the flags are?.We cant wake up the prawnies now can we.For the first time at the new stadium there was an intimdating atomosphere. With more people standing up and singing. This is how it should be every game and not just against the forces of evil.
So far since we have moved to the new stadium the club has done nothing to help encourage a better atomosphere,in fact they are doing everything to stop it by getting the stewards to try and make fans sit down. Who"s stupid idea was it to stick the singing section in the corner? The whole of the lower tier North end should be for fans who want to sing and dont mind people around them standing up.The club should have sorted this out when they sent out the season ticket renewals,They should have given the fans the choice.

Have gotta agree here

Firstly as you say, season tickets and red action as far away as away fans (and heart of atmosphere as possible - absolute joke)

Secondly - If tehy had designated singing and possibility of standing areas prior to season ticket being purchased, peopel coudl have chosen

tehy coudl rectify this next season, informing season ticket holder there seats are in designated areas, tehy can choose to leave

Thirdly - the online purchasing system coudl be changes in a amtter of an hour, to colour code blocks desiganted as singing, blocks designated as not

Have to fully agree that the club are not doing enough and when supporters take an initiative and create atmospher, they are mostly stopping it (taking of phones, sit down, ect..

We should push the whistle thing next season - chelsea and man unt were good atmospheres this season and hopefully more games next will be like this

I've been every game and I have to say atmosphere has been sterile at nearly all the matches.Even against those mugs on Sunday they made more noise at times! Hate to say it but if we all don't pull our fingers out next season it will get worse.I also think that no matter what the official line goes, the Club level seating areas have been awful for the way they stampede out of their seats 10 mins b4 half time, and slowly make their way back 4 2nd half, talk about get your money's worth!!
