Dead Gooners

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Dead Gooners

Post by Wayno »

Fellow Gooners including the lovely HollyImage would it be possible for the forum to set up an account for wreaths and such like for when the Big fella comes calling and takes a well known Gooner to the big forum in the sky.

I am sure that many would like to show their respects for Jeremy Beadle, a life long Gooner but as individuals the cost of sending flowers is too much, however, if we all chipped in a quid then we could send a decent offering from the forum, possibly spelling out the forum name. I know that for many this may seem morbid but I think most of us regulars would be willing and wanting to contribute. Perhaps we could set it up through PayPal.

Your thoughts please

Sounds like a decent idea to me, so I'd be in. Not quite sure how you'd set it all up, though.

I move that we don't let IHH set an account up, though - as we all know where our money would actually be going

I don't think it is too difficult but would really need to be run and monitored by Gooner.ed or onlinegooner. I do not know how much additional work we have just put upon him (Gooner.ed) but I am sure he will find a way of making it easy. Thanks guys for not slating the idea.

I'd be willing to contribute/help/ - Paypal would perhaps be the way forward as suggested. Any contibutions over could be used for future tributes.

Over to Kev I'd say.

Rob.

Do Interflora sell your 'flowers' Hlebby?

I can see it now; a life-long Gooner passes away and the family receives a big bag of skunk with a message "from all of us at the Online Gooner forum - our thoughts are with you at this difficult time" masking-taped on to the bag!!

Thanks for that Rob, I think it is a viable proposition, wondering how much a pinkcat made of flowers might cost.

well i am willing to try and sort something out, but give me a week, and by all means a reminder in week's time.

think jeremy beadle will get a huge send off anyway. may have already, although i didn't catch news of the funeral if it has taken place.

unfortunate thing about recent problems regards the website is that - timewise - i've suffered on the work front, so am unable to attend the funeral today of Tim Stevens, the founder of the 'An Imperfect Match' (AIM) fanzine, which takes place at lunchtime. I'll put something on the main part of the website about the guy, but gutted I can't travel to the funeral today due to work deadlines. would have been able to go if it wasn't for the time taken up by... well, the regulars will know.

I too would 100% support this idea. The Arsenal has always been known as a club with class and it would be good for us to strengthen that viewpoint and recognise a fellow Gooner
