Jonathan Woodgate Raid?

Post by Boomer »

Gunners consider Woodgate raid
Skysports.com understands Arsenal are weighing up a shock move to sign Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate.

The Spurs man came through a practice game in midweek against QPR having not played since November 2009 due to a career-threatening groin problem.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his backline in this month's transfer window due to injuries to regular stoppers Thomas Vermaelen and Sebastien Squillaci.

And it is understood the Frenchman wants to raid Arsenal's north London rivals for Woodgate to plug the gap in his side's central defence.

Former England stopper Woodgate arrived at White Hart Lane from Middlesbrough in 2008, but has seen his Spurs career hampered by injury.

Previously, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has indicated he would allow Woodgate to leave on loan to interested clubs QPR or Leeds, provided he can achieve basic fitness

F*cking ridiculous if true! I'm sick of us trying to patch up our defence with crocks, knock offs, unknowns & bargain bin signings. Proven quality please Arsene!

If anyone's seen the pre-match talk in reference to Cahill?
I think it's him. 8)

There was a look, a tell. Don't know quite what but you know what I mean.
A cheeky wink and little smile.
Opps!

Why does Wenger leave it till the last minute every time? We have two fucking CB's, that's all and he STILL wants to leave it till 15 mins before the window closes! Would it not make sense to sign someone now and get them training with the team?
Wenger - you are a tw@t of the highest order!

I have a suspicion it's Cahill too. I might be wrong, but why did Bolton buy Wheater yesterday? if they didn't need him?

I suppose clubs wait until the last minute for better deals.

Bolton are cash straped so maybe playing hard ball. Keep saying £20M for Cahill.
But as it looks like Wheater was brought in as a ready replacement early. Bolton made need to sell if he hasn't gone before the end of the window.

I'm guessing!?

Don't know what to think any more. They say there's no smoke without fire. However, getting in an injury-prone player from your main rivals is bonkers on every level.

I know that we are bidding for Cahill. We're short on the transfer fee from what I hear. Perhaps this Woodgste rumour leaked to the press is brinkmanship by the Club to bring Bolton to the table on a more realistic price level....

In the words of John McEnroe "You can not be serious"

Wenger wouldn't sign a +30year old injury prone mofo surely. And a **** to boot. Hopefully it is Cahill. Could have bought him last year for alot less but he persists buying players from outside premiership :banghead:
