Wenger - "I won't buy a defender this month"

Wenger - "I won't buy a defender this month"

Post by TeeCee »

Sky Sports news are quoting Wenger on Sunday morning as saying "I won't buy a defender this month as long as Djourou and Koscielny stay fit".
He is also quoted as saying "If we fail to win anything I won't use lack of players as an excuse".

Words fail me, they really do. We are in such a good position, why would you take the chance? You can almost guarantee that one of our CB's will be injured the day after the transfer window closes and we'll be left with the bumbling Squillaci to cost us trophies. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It was the old "if the right opportunity arises" lark, but if not then hes willing to go with what he has and he wont use lack of defensive cover as an excuse.

Dont really give a fuck what excuses you have mate, i want whats best for the club which is to sign another centre half even if by divine miracle djourou and koscielny remain fit for the rest of the season.

Heres hoping that its just a negotiating tactic and hes not really considering entering the heaviest part of the season with 2 fit centre halfs.

That's what it said in the programme yesterday as well, shame as I'd like to see Cahill come in. :(

he better bring in someone, you cant rely on a person wish such a serious injury history as djourou.

some players will inevitably pick up knocks and strains and you cant predict breaks or other serious injuries. take example of kos concussion, something like that could keep him out for game or two.

suspensions are also likely, kos already twice this season, and that makes it crazy jus to have the 2. even if we hav 3, a knock to one and suspension to other and we in trouble.

to not have cover would just be suicidal.

squillaci is a liability and even if he is now more optimistic bout vermaelen that a risk cos of all dats happened to his recovery this season

It's very worrisome considering we have Barcelona coming up. Not to mention challenging on four fronts as we are, at present. That's a lot of football for three B+ center backs.

But, Vermaelen should heal eventually *fingers crossed*.

I kind of want to bitch about it, but I've been eating my words of the summer about needing a new keeper (lets be honest, LF21 and WS53 have been fantastic) and now I'm wondering if this might also be the case.

Wenger is a dickhead if he thinks he can win trophies this season with the centre backs we have  Always the cheapskate, penny pinching bullshit built around luck and prayers rather than any real commitment to success

when can you take what Wenger says seriously in regards to transfers though? We're looking, we're not, we are in the market, we wont sign someone then we go and sign 2-3 players so...take it with a pinch of salt.

looks like here's one we might be finishing up but once again, is it true?

Because his bosses are too busy looking at profits to care to suggest he do anything differently?
