I DON'T BUY IT...JUST LIKE ARSENE DOESN'T!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I don't think AW isn't buying to prove some point, though it doesn't look he's signing anyone for the first team this Jan, I'm not overly disappointed by that. most AW signings take a while to bed in even those in there mid twenties, hleb has been much better in the last 18 months than his first season.

I'd have liked us to bring in someone who can play left or right midfield as hleb and thomas are often out. But its unlikely we'll sign a winger. AW has only signed three wingers for Arsenal one he moved to striker, one had offield problems and attitude problems and was sold on without getting into the first team and the other was overmars.

im sure many of u are or maybe aware of the fact that apparently there is an unofficial code of conduct at the club which means arsenal do not re-sign former players, altho im sure if mr wenger wanted one so much he would do his best to convince the board

In addition to Keown and Lukic, when Wenger let Sidwell go he said he would consider having him back one day, and of course he also said recently he considered getting lovely Nic Anelka back.

Before I start this is not a hit out at Augie session but since you commented I will reply in kind

Augie - Modric link

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 34,00.html

I had the Robinho link but its no longer live - 2 years old

My youth policy is not sound?
I don't make policy at Arsenal, but if I did.....................

I also did not say or infer we are a feeder club - I said that Barca and Real hunt our best players down - AW lost NA9 but kept PV4 and TH14 until he felt they were past their best.

My interpretation of Prima Donna - any player that gets paid a massive wages & comes to this wonderful club for an an outlandish fee. This is important because we will need to compete with the Chavs and Manure

We all want what best for the club but I see things more along AW's vision than a lot of people in this forum

I am still waiting for someone to give examples of who they would bring in and how much they would be prepared to pay - Would they be first choice players or squad players?

Believe it or not Almunia is not my favourite (but what has he really done wrong this season?) - he is an Arsenal player and I will support him, same goes for Eboue, Senderos and Hoyte.

That said I am now officially done!

I wouldn't really say he was a proper winger either, not if you compare with someone like say...Giggs or Pennant anyway. Remember 01/02 before he got injured? Man...he was running all over the place and more or less everytime he touched the ball something happend. I sometimes watch AW's Magic Hat (season review from 01/02) just to watch him at his peak.

It's a good point about the wingers though. Apparently AW nearly signed Ronaldo before Sad Alex even knew who he was...it would have been intresting to see how he'd turned out at Arsenal.

Glad to be back - I missed the Forum, though strangely it coincided with getting more work done...

I assume once augie and co get back they'll be telling us how pissed off they are by Wenger's comments re his approach during the transfer window, esp the bit about being proud of balancing the books: http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?this ... temptation.

And to be honest, much as I love Wenger and continue to think he's the greatest manager in English football since Clough, I do find it difficult to see why we don't splash the cash once in a while to add big name quality to the quality of the young players carefully nurtured by Wenger.

Not that our complaints will change a thing.

I guess people are never going to agree about AW transfer policy. But what does my head in is the negative attitude of some on here. If we were to sign a world class keeper like Buffon I would be happy because any world class player in my team is good. But what I can’t get my head around is people knocking the shyt out of Almunia when he has done next to nothing wrong.

If we had signed Anelka like lots of people have said we should of done then what you are saying is it’s ok for a player like Bendtner to go because why should he sit on the bench behind Edu, RVP, Ade, Walcott. So pay £12m+ for a player with attitude who has never stayed at a club and get rid of a player who could be worth £15m in two years time and has been developed to play the Arsenal way.

People on here seem to take turns to knock Senderos then Edu then RVP (for being injured) Hleb, Song Almunia etc, etc. If spending loads of money is the key to winning then why aint Liverpool 12 points above us?

I cant help but think if we win the league and champions league some people on here will still be moaning that we haven’t built ready for next season……..

If I’m honest I don’t think we will win anything this season but that won’t stop me going to Manure and Milan and screaming my lungs out for the boys. And if we don’t win anything I won’t love my club any less than I do now. And I wont be on here blaming our boss the best manager in our history for not spending money in January.

And what’s all this about Arsenal being a feeder club for big clubs in Italy etc? The only players that have left us to go to big clubs abroad are the ones AW thinks are past their best or will spend too much time on bench.

I assume by that last statement that you believe that anelka was either past his best or a bench warmer ??

You tell me then southampton gooner, if you dont think we'll win anything why wont we ? Where will we fall short ? What area of the team/squad/tactics will let us down cos you must have some reason to believe that we wont be successful ? Whatever that reason is do you think it is wise or prudent not to make genuine efforts to remedy the problem ?

As I have said on here for yonks people should feel free to disagree with me on my thoughts but dont dis me by saying that you will be going to these games shouting your head off cos you support the team and at the same time insinuating that some of us who dare to criticise will not shout our heads off for the team too. If we are wrong point out to us where we are wrong - tell us senderos is world class, that almunia is the outstanding keeper in europe at the moment, or that theo is just overflowing with confidence if that is what you honestly believe  Somehow I dont believe that you think any of that is true but rather than admit to our shortcomings, and we do have some, you would rather knock other fans opinions than face up to your own - go on dont be afraid we wont think any less of you

I also forgot to make the point that during our "down time" in the last few days wenger came out with another of his "I nearly bought him" statements when referring to the cheating b*stard that is ronaldo - you got to love him when he says that he nearly bought all theses quality players dont you  ? If he aint careful we have a load of nearly won trophies to go with his nearly bought players

I wish he'd just keep these sort of things to himself.

Don't worry about those nearly won trophies - ronaldo would have been converted to right back anyway.

ALTHOUGH I AGREE THAT IT IS FRUSTRATING TO HEAR OF ALL THE PLAYERS WE MAY HAVE BOUGHT, THE RONALDO THING WAS COMMON KNOWLEDGE TO THOSE OF US WHO PAID ATTENTION AT THE TIME. INDEED, I COMMENTED ON THAT FACT ON A DIFFERENT THREAD (WHICH I CAN'T FIND) A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO.

AUGIE,

WHY DON'T YOU JUST HAVE THE COURAGE OF YOUR CONVICTIONS AND START CAMPAIGNING FOR WENGER TO BE SACKED!! LET'S TEST HOW MANY PEOPLE SHARE YOUR VIEWS. SURELY THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL ULTIMATELY BE HAPPY? AFTER ALL, HE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT DOING A GOOD ENOUGH JOB AS FAR AS YOU ARE CONCERNED.

ALMOST EVERY SINGLE POST - AFTER INITIALLY BEING COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BOARD - IS A DIG AT WENGER'S DECISIONS AND CAPABILITIES AND I HAVE YET TO READ ONE POST WHERE YOU HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN POSITIVE ABOUT HIS CHOICES.

HAVING CONCERNS IS FAIR ENOUGH BUT TO KEEP ON AND ON AND ON AND ON..... AND THE FACTS ARE THAT OUR PERFORMANCES AND RESULTS SO FAR THIS SEASON HAVEN'T WARRANTED ALL THE ANGST AND THE PLETHORA OF NEGATIVE OPINIONS THAT HAVE COME FROM YOU.

NOW I KNOW YOU DO IT OUT OF CONCERN AND LOVE FOR ARSENAL BUT BLOODY HELL MATEY - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ALREADY!!
