As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Would people still be in support of Holloway if he'd played his reserves against Chelsea or Tottenham, for instance?
I doubt it.
You probably have a point, there is more good will towards holloway due to both the way he has approached the PL and the comments he had for the Arsenal earlier in the year then there was for Mccarthy.
However, my view at the time was that Mccarthy was incredibly cynical in just throwing the game at old toilet but that it was dangerous for the league to start decreeing to managers what represents their strongest team. So, i was against both the crime and the punishment. Still am with holloway to an extent, although im less convinced that he had written off the villa game then i was about Mccarthy.
The difference as I see it between the Wolves game at OT and Blackpool is
1-the 25 man squad rule, not 1 player in the Blackpool starting 11 was from outside this squad so by the FA's own rules it should be ok
and
2-The performance of the team, Wolves went into the game at OT without seeming to try and get anyhing from the game where as Blackpool did at least try and nearly got something from the Villa game. If Wolves could of pointed to the game where they tried to get something from the game then I do not think there would of been such an uproar
Fair play to him........he bought a player that nobody else was after, convinced him to sign for a club fighting against relegation from the championship and turned both adam and blackpool into a very competitive side in the prem league He has turned blackpools investment into a wanted commodity that will see the club turn a tidy profit so why shouldnt he be rewarded ?
On a side issue can you imagine what would happen if managers had to pay back money when players they bought actually lost value ? fat rafa's grandkids would still be working to pay off his debts to the scousers

Always had a lot of time for the guy. What he says and the funny accent that he says it with....
And I thought fair play to him for trying to get as much money for Adams as he can. A loss to Blackpool but softened if they get £10m.
So I was a bit disappointed when I heard that he is on a percentage himself...... Kind of undermines the idea that he is doing it for the club and it's fans !
It is about time the samller clubs in the prem (wolves, blackpool etc) get together and fight the dickheads that are running the league How the fcuk can you ask a manager to name his 25 man squad and then not allow him to play who he likes from that squad ? We fcuking did it against wigan and am wondering how the clubs at the bottom of the league will feel if the point they got off us is the point that keeps them up It is a fcuking disgraceful decision and even the LMA should get involved imo

That is so true. They all got "new" rules with the 25 man squad, Ian Holloway is playing by that rules. He calls it as he sees it, not the crap that AW spews out to us - like the old "I didn't see it" bollox.
AW has put out really bad squads against "inferior opposition", so why no fine for him then?
I enjoy Holloways comments, win or lose, he seems sincere, giving credit where it is due, and he wasn't scared in the OP to say that FIFA, UEFA or whoever it might be is what is corrupting the game.
I'm sickened by the FA's decision. They have no right to rate the playability of an eleven, especially when they're already seen, agreed and accepted a team's submission of a 25-man squad. Besides, what's the fucking difference between that and a team of your best 11 going out and not even contesting the game? (See: Blackburn v Man Utd).
You would never see this kind of abuse against a big team because there would be an outrage. Frankly it's an insult to Blackpool, their manager, and the eleven men who barely lost a tight contest with Villa in the game in question.
Between the FA's constant blowing SAF and their victimizing teams unnecessarily, I've lost a ton of faith in the organization in the last few months.
I also don't see why anybody finds this funny or is having a dig at Holloway when such blatant corruption and favoritism is rampant. If anything fans of other teams should be standing up for Blackpool in this travesty of a decision.
