To Sky or not to Sky?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

To Sky or not to Sky?

Post by Chippy »

For all sorts of reasons I am not going to as many games this season. Just looking at the fixture list and realised that apart from the Barca away game (which I'm going to) we are not on Sky until, probably, the Bin dippers in the middle of April!

Just wondering whether it is worth paying my £20+ a month for no Arsenal, while lining the pockets of the dirty digger, and fuelling the ridiculous amounts of money being shelled out yesterday!

Just occurred to me that AW is a bit of a lefty, perhaps he has decided that it would be morally wrong to spend any of the Sky money and that's why he doesn't buy.

I think the Carling Cup final is on Sky Sports, but probably on ITV too (if you can stomach it).

Have the televised fixtures for April been set yet? I'm sure the Blackburn home game will probably be screened too. It is odd though, that having shown the majority of our games on Sky/ESPN this season, the broadcasters have given us the boot for two months, just as we're mounting a seemingly legitimate challenge.

Let's see, I pay $15 CAD/mo. for Setanta, then about another $8 for some other channels that football is on. 14.20 pounds a month.

But my roommates actually pay most of that cost, they don't know it's on the bill, don't tell them  :flag:

CC Final is on BBC. Still better than paying £25 to watch the same game.

This is a good point. I've recently down graded some of my packages as I'm not using them as much (Movies, music etc...) which will turn off next Monday.
Might be worth just paying for the one channel (sky 1 or 2) whatever the games actually on rather then the full package. I could stream the game but is Sky worth it for 1 game?
Is SSN on variety or part of the sports package? Which channel is the Barca match on?

The Barca game is TBC but all the other big English CL games covered by Sky in Feb are on SS2.

I just pay for Sky Sports and ESPN. The rest are like £1 so don't really care. I really don't pay to watch Arsenal though. It is to watch other games. Depends on how much you like football apart from watching Arsenal I guess.

This is what I was looking at also...

In Feb Sky are showing:
Sun 6th Chelsea Vs Liverpool. (Meh!)
Sat 12th Utd V Citeh 12:45 (I'll be on my way to the Grove for 3pm!)
Sp*ds away in the CL I can live without.
Hopefully I'll be at Wembley for the CC but if not I've got the Beeb to full back on.
The only game I'll miss is Chelsea Vs Utd on Tues 1st March.

Fortunately, my sky subs is from the 7th and the Barca match is on the 8th!!! So I could go without. :? :)
