To Sky or not to Sky?
To have Sky Sports in Ireland is €57 (£50). It should also be noted that we do not receive the same specification with regards to picture quality either, ours is lower plus there has been rumours that Sky have gradually descreased the picture quality over the last 12 months throughout the UK and IRE in an attempt to make HD look far superior, which it does.
How much in the UK for the Sky Sports package?
I cancelled mine a few days ago. It's a complete rip off right now.

But that covers all HD channels that you subcribe to.

In the bigger picture though without Sky’s pimping of every aspect of the game (both here & globally) neither the yanks or the russian would have invested anything like that, if anything at all.clockend_tom wrote:I dont blame sky for yesterday... the sky deal is a fraction of the price actually invested by both the yanks and the russian!
You're blaming the wrong people. Sky has no rights to show games abroad apart from their sister networks. Its the Premier League who has done this. Its Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:In the bigger picture though without Sky’s pimping of every aspect of the game (both here & globally) neither the yanks or the russian would have invested anything like that, if anything at all.clockend_tom wrote:I dont blame sky for yesterday... the sky deal is a fraction of the price actually invested by both the yanks and the russian!
think my sky is about 68.50 a month which includes movies and sports (all sky sports channels and ESPN) and a few of the stupid shitty packages they make you take at least one of even though you'd rather be allowed to just subscribe to the sports channels, and the HD subscription (which the fuckers really shouldnt charge, and certainly shouldnt charge again if you take out multiroom)
Sunderland are almost never on Sky and I go to all the home games so its only away games that I ever get to see on there. Not really worth it tbh, its about time they got rid of this ridiculous 3pm Saturday blackout and started showing every match. I would happily buy a Sky SAFC season ticket just so i could see the away games that I can't make and the midweek matches i miss due to work. Seems ridiculous that foreigners can watch pretty much every game live whereas those of us in the fucking country the games are played in have to accept watching some random shit (like west brom v wigan tonight) when there are much better games
Have a "season ticket" option for those who want to watch all the games of a certain club, and a "miscellaneous (sp!)" ticket for those who just want to see all the big games/ shite games/ relegation battles. Like I say, the 3pm blackout serves no useful purpose now and needs to be abolished- if people want to watch games at this time they just get a dodgy link so they already arent attending lower league games. Its about time they realised this- lower league attendances wont suffer much for it, and tbh if they do then maybe there are too many professional clubs in England, they need to be able to stand on their own two feet

£68.50 is the right amount with all included. The 3pm blackout is UEFA imposed and not something done by the FA or the football league. Generally I agree with your viewpoint on 3pm kick offsafcftm wrote:think my sky is about 68.50 a month which includes movies and sports (all sky sports channels and ESPN) and a few of the stupid shitty packages they make you take at least one of even though you'd rather be allowed to just subscribe to the sports channels, and the HD subscription (which the fuckers really shouldnt charge, and certainly shouldnt charge again if you take out multiroom)

Can't remember if it's still going on but a landlady was challenging it in the courts of law. My mate knows more but it could be a president if won.Iceman29 wrote:£68.50 is the right amount with all included. Basically your allowed to buy foreign channels such as ESPN etc...so as part of her 'European rights' should be able to buy an oversea's TV station. Simples!
I think the sticking point for her is that she's broadcasting it in her pub rather then for sole use.
Still like the oversea's streams there's nothing illegal in watching the games. Its broadcasting and licencing laws which are breached.

To be fair you may be right about who shows games abroad, but then again if we’re talking about Sky’s “sisterâ€

I was going to do the same. Unless Sky Atlantic is showing football lets keep the thread football orientated. Otherwise the mods will relegate this to the basement.Henry Norris 1913 wrote:gunner_ace wrote:Sky atlantic has just launched today. the new home of all HBO programming in the UK. looks pretty decent as their showing broadwalk empire and are showing sopranos, curb, 6ft under from the very begining.![]()

Back on topic, I've got a week to decide on SS Feb subscription.
