but you're wrong

I half agree, I think Webb is kind of crap and fucked us in the CC O7, but fuck sake some of the others like Dowd and Mike Dean take the fucking piss.safcftm wrote:I have to be honest here, even though he has fucked Sunderland over before with bad decisions (including giving Newcastle a penalty a few seasons back when Steven Taylor dived against us for which he later apologised), I don't mind Howard Webb. He tends to be fair, and he lets games flow which means sometimes when he is refereeing a big game you get a decent match, rather than a stop start game with some jumped up prick of an official who wants to be the centre of attention. Not perfect at all, but Howard Webb is about the only one of the current crop that I have any respect for

Everyone will have a different view on which ref is the best one around, but pretty much everyone would agree that, whichever one it is, he isn't actually a really god ref, he's just a bit less shite than the rest, or he is equally shite but at least he isnt swayed by a crowd and lets a game flow. End of the day, that simply isnt good enough, and with the money in football now, I dont really think its fair on the refs to have to make such huge, and potentially extremely financially costly, calls. If technology can be introduced, it should be phased in. No one wants to see a stop start game, but things like goal line technology are easy to implement and could give a decision in seconds whilst play continues. They could at least bring that in for a start.
I also think they could bring in an appeals system like they have in the cricket for situations where the ball is dead anyway. I can understand the argument that they wouldnt want a player to go down in the box, play on to be given, the ball to stay in play for ten minutes before the other team score, only to see the team that concedes appeal the penalty decision, win the appeal, and end up with a penalty and having to take ten minutes off the clock- that would wreck the game and i dont think it should be brought in. But why not allow appeals for situations like if a player goes down in the box and the ref says its a dive. The game is stopped then anyway for the defending team to take a free kick, so it would waste no time at all to ensure the right decision was made. Same with goal kick/ corner kick debates. And like in cricket (and NFL), if you appeal and you lose, you lose an appeal- give teams 2 appeals a game or something
Equally they could set a time limit (you can appeal any decision but only if the ball has gone out of play within, say, 30 seconds of the incident, so you arent having to bring the play back 5 minutes etc). You might just miss out on the time limit and that would be a pain in the arse, but whilst it wouldnt be fair, it would be fairer, and that is what the authorities should be trying to move towards
In the case of your recent games- v Everton its either a goal or an offside, so it can be appealed- you appeal it and win, no goal, restart with a free kick- the game has been made fairer and taken fuck all time
v Newcastle- for the red card the game was stopped anyway, so you could try appealing that, and the two penalties he gave the play was stopped to give a penalty so you could appeal that and at least the second one would have been overturned. Equally the mags could appeal the off side and be given their goal. It wouldnt be 100% fair (there could be a game where you deserve a penalty but it isnt given and too long passes to bring it back, and then the opposition concede a harsh penalty later on but are able to appeal it etc), but it would get rid of most controversial moments and wouldnt make the games last much longer than they already do. The game cant keep on having major, major issues (relegation, promotion, titles etc) decided simply by a refereeing decision
I thought diaby played well up until then, he was winning the ball back for us and keeping it simple, he is not the best at the holding role but atleast he has pace and power, our other option is denilson.GoonerN5 wrote:Leg break or not he isnt anywhere near good enough to be playing for us, its not just him, Bendtner, Squillaci, Rosicky, Vela, Eboue etc shouldnt be anywhere near our squad, they wouldnt get anywhere near Man U or Chelseas squad, and that is down to Wenger.MegaGooner wrote:That is harsh. As was said before, he knows what it is to have a leg break. He's had vicious tackle against him this season where he hasn't played much. I fully understand his reaction, not condoning it, but I do understand why he did it.GoonerN5 wrote:If Wenger was dping his job properly then shit like Diaby wouldnt be anywhere near our squad, people can blame Dowd, Rosicky, Diaby etc but the blame lies at Wengers door
