We may be stuffed on aggregate but I would expect us to put up a good show at home. It is a cup match after all and what about our games against Ipswich, Leeds and Huddersfield lesser oppo did ok. A lot of energy and effort on the night and we won't shame ourselves. Have faith, every dog has its day, cmon you reds.

Oh and if its a moral boost you need, even Nick B can score against them. 8)

I expect it to be close, damn close. We're in a much better position now than we were last season - and even then came within a whisker of a two goal aggregate lead in the 2nd leg before it became Messi.....

Keep the faith....Dowd won't be referee!!!!

I wonder what the odds are on them scoring ten or more over the two legs? It might help soften the blow

The squad is already dropping like flies. It's like deja vous to last year.
No Nasri, Squilacci in defence, no Song (?). We will be bludgeoned if that scenario plays out. I was there in Barca last year. It was embarassing at times. I can't understand people's optimism. 5-2 on agg flattered us last year. I'll be surprised if it's not worse this year.

What is this optimism based on? Please enlighten me.

Maybe Arsene should consider an emergency loan deal. Mikael Silvestre isn't getting a game at Werder Bremen?

It certainly would have. Unfortunately, the aggregate score was 6-3.

I have already rented out my season ticket for the night and will be happily in the cinema when the home game kicks off and will be doing soemthing else when the away leg kicks off.

I'd prefer not to watch a slaughter, thank you very much.
I predict he will use his A-team to beat us 4-1 at home then pick the B-team to beat us a slightly less humiliating 3-0.

I'm only hoping the season doesn't collapse after that...if it does at least I'll have a cracking away w'end against B'pool(..already done a deal with an away ticket schemer :D )

Well, my optimism is based on the fact that we're currently second in the Premier League, on a very good run, and well capable of giving Barca a decent game. Hopefully we'll have also learnt from the mistakes of last year and won't be quite as open in the first leg. We have a lot of problems in defence, but if RVP and Cesc are fit - and with Nasri hopefully being fit for the second leg - then yes, I think we'll at least let them know that they've been in a game.

I was also there last year, and it although it was embarassing by the end there were long periods when we actually competed really well - especially given the makeshift nature of the team we had out.

God, you would think we supported West Ham, Sheff Wed or Luton FFS. You miserable buggers are so full of doom and gloom. We're playing Barcelona.....enjoy it!

I just hope we're still in with a shout going into the second leg. We were completely outplayed in the first half last time and it was only the spanish waiter having his one decent game that kept us in it at times. Oh! and there is the small matter of them now having one of the world's deadliest strikers in David Villa instead of Ibrahimovic. If we play Shitlacci and Koscielny against there strikeforce we could be lucky to keep it in single figures. Our best form of defence might be to just keep attacking.Theo did cause them problems but of course the main problem is getting the ball off them in the first place.
