Stoke Game Moved to Wednesday

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Fucking disgraceful. Yet another example of match going fans being treated like shit- with only 2 weeks to go before the game, they must know that people will have already sorted flights/ trains/ accommodation etc.

This has fucked over a mate who already had flights booked. Believing the game was on the Tuesday he was gonna fly back on the Wednesday. Since had to book new flights. Thankfully it only came to about £30 to change it i believe but he's still out of pocket & again the fans are an afterthought for the TV companies.

Not to mention the fact that he'd already wasted a trip flying over for the original cancelled fixture in December!

Its a fucking pain in the arse mate. We've had Niall Quinn saying he "despises" some of our fans who aren't going to the SoL anymore and are instead watching on "dodgy" satellite in the pub. What he fails to remember is that the clubs have sold themselves like cheap Amsterdam whores to TV companies. They want to charge a fucking fortune to watch matches in shite, sterilised, boring stadiums, whilst treating the fans like shit. They sell rights abroad then complain when people here watch them (even though the international TV deals bring them much more money than gate receipts do), they move kick off times so that some prick in Aberdeen can watch an FA Cup game, they're a fucking joke

For some reason clubs act as if their supporters owe them but slowly people are starting to realise that they are having the fucking piss ripped out of them. If you want your precious TV games then fine, we'll not bother fucking turning up. See how much the next TV deal is worth when people are watching matches with fuck all attendances

Yep, it's a pisstake. The German fans got together to protest about exactly this kinda thing last autumn. Credit to them for actually getting off their arses & voicing their pleasure. And the thing is they have it miles better than us anyway

Trouble is we have sat and taken it for too long. When TV companies started to be more important to the clubs than their match going supporters people just accepted it. They also just accepted it when clubs started pricing fans out of the game- end of the day it is meant to be the working mans sport but a ticket for a "category A" game at SAFC is £34 for an adult (and i realise thats cheap compared to Arsenal). Take your two kids to the game with you and you're looking about £70, over a days take home pay for a lot of people who simply cant spend that much on football

Then we have the problem that if anyone tries to protest about anything football related here, they would get very harsh treatment from the police who believe all football fans are hooligans, and their harsh treatment would be ignored by the public because, well, they have bought into the idea that all fans are hooligans. I mentioned it after our game at the weekend, but me and my mates went to stoke and tried to get a bit of atmosphere and my mate got arrested just for lighting a fucking smoke bomb ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMKbaw04HCc )
We all had them and needed to ditch them before we got lifted as well- the police dont even let fans have harmless fun now, so theres fuck all chance they will allow decent protests about important footballing issues

As a result, we will never be able to mount a protest like the Germans did- not enough people care, and people are just used to it all by now. The only way things can change is if the game implodes- attendances are starting to drop now, and that landlady might win her case against the PL with their "exclusive rights", so maybe it is finally starting to happen

This is only if there is a draw, so you could always bet on a draw if the cup game and if it happens spend the winnings on changing travel plans. Atleast it is home now away.

No, it's been moved because the Orient game is now on the Sunday and the irony is that they have the nerve to put a thumbs up sign to say that you like it :banghead: :banghead:

Also, the *word censored* don't even apologise for moving the game and the inconvenience caused. How fucking rude.

It is better than playing two games in three days.

I do not blame the club, I blame the TV companies who decided to schedule our cup game on the Sunday knowing that we had a league game in place for the Tuesday.

Welcome Roman. If you are planning to come over just for the game and then return home straight after the game then I take my hat off to you!! However the chances of you getting tickets at face value are.....erm.....how can I put this.......erm........
