That is typical  We can't afford to lose Flamini. Denilson and Gilberto are injured right now and will not be able replace him; while Diaby has probably forgotten how to play in central-midfield. At least Clichy made his debut and is alright.
Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini has suffered an injury scare whilst on international duty on Tuesday night.

The all-action midfielder was forced off after just 17 minutes as a France reserve side played out a 0-0 draw against DR Congo in Marbella.

Following the game, which also saw his North London team-mate Gael Clichy make his first appearance for Raymond Domenech, RMC reported that Flamini had sustained an ankle injury but that the blow was not a serious one.

With no official confirmation yet forthcoming from the Premier League leaders, Arsenal will be hoping the fitness problem is not severe enough to keep Flamini out of Monday’s Premier League encounter against Blackburn Rovers.

The former Marseille trainee - who made his debut for Les Bleus in November - has been in impressive form alongside Cesc Fabregas in Arsene Wenger’s midfield this season, keeping World Cup winner Gilberto Silva out of the side.

Bacary Sagna also played for the France second string side, whilst Abou Diaby was an unused substitute on the bench.

It's ok, we have an able deputy waiting in the wings, he's been patiently waiting since his summer move from Chelsea. What's that you say? Diarra was sold..... To Portsmouth! Holy Shit Balls. Lets hope it's right about not being serious.

I assume you were looking for me in case I was going into meltdown over our thread bare squad looking even thinner :?: :?: As if I would  Dont ye all panic - wenger says we have a big enough squad so we must have right ??

Anyway Galasso I have decided that as the transfer window has firmly shut in our faces I am not going to stress myself out over this cos there is no point now anyway. Sadly it means you guys are going to have to do without my insightful opinions on the strengths/weaknesses of this squad -do you think ye can cope with that ?   Christ I am going to have to have a word with myself cos I am far too mellow at the moment for my liking although that could be more to do with the break from club football than a change in my personality 8)

Wouldn't be able to handle a change in personality, mid-season

In terms of cover for Flamini - you're right, we have nothing capable of providing what Flamini does at the moment. Gilberto is on another planet, Denilson..no, not yet and please, not Diaby - HE IS NOT VIEIRA!

What staggers me is that what Flamini has given us this season has only been replicated by one other player - Diarra! None of other have even come close. So what does Wenger think would happen with Flamini out with a long term injury?

I know we can't control what goes on inside Diarra's head and his wishes for first team football - but there was a case for keeping him until the end of the season and then replacing him and shipping others if neccessary.
