West Ham get Olympic Stadium

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The **** have only been in North London since 1965 anyway, they can fuck off back to the Middlesex Swamp & drown as far as I'm concerned :barscarf:

Just heard on BBC that Spuds will seek a judicial review if the decision has gone against them....

And I do still find it funny that Spuds put all of their dreams into the hope that the Olympic Park Legacy Company would have voted for the option which involved knocking the Olympic stadium down..... Wasn't that always a little like expecting Turkeys to vote for Christmas?

I don't really get the big deal with all this. Are all Leyton Orient fans now going to start supporting West Ham instead then? Even if that were the case, the two probably wouldn't both play at home on the same day, so fans won't even have to choose between the two.

Also, in the 1800s, I could understand that local clubs would be worried about other clubs moving in nearby as it may dilute their fanbase. But, hello - it's 2011, and there's these things we call cars, trains and buses which move people around the country. It's not as if people living in East London were physically incapable of going to any club other than Orient before now if they'd so desired.
It's all about the next generation of potential Orient fans. If kids grow up seeing West Ham in the Premiership on their doorstep then the chances are they'll support them rather than the O's so long term it could be bad news whoever won the bid.
Good point but if the Hammers go down now and don't get back up straight away it may not be so bad for Orient,no?

Either way it was a win win situation for us. I'm a little bit pleased that there will still be a NLD (if the reports are true).

Sobering thought that Stratford is about 5 miles from WHL.......whereas Wembley, which was once proposed as our home, is nearer 8 miles from Highbury!

And the City of Manchester Stadium is 4 miles away from Man City's former home in Moss Side.....

The reason they wanted that ground wsa to save them 200mill , we ll now they will either have to expand on their current cabbage patch or build a new stadium like us ( mind u i bet they will still fidf money for new players) , have some of that *word censored*
