Sugar came across (on talkshite) as a real bully, demanding that Harringay do this, that and the other to accomodate the tiny totts stadium plans blah, blah, blah.
Why the hell can't they build their own stadium with their own money or borrow it from banks - not from Harringay Council over a fixed term 25 year repayment at special rates like he was demanding.
Get Enic / Joe Lewis to waste some more of his hard earned and do it yourselves as you are such a big club.
Oh and what the fuck has it got to do with you anyway Sugar me old plum, you sold out and left the spuds years ago.

I think this give Harringay MORE leverage.StuartL wrote:Sugar came across (on talkshite) as a real bully, demanding that Harringay do this, that and the other to accomodate the tiny totts stadium plans blah, blah, blah.

Honestly though, what a fucking waste of time, effort and no doubt money, that bid was. "We will let you host the Olympics if this lovely new stadium you are building is kept as a stadium for British athletics long after the Olympics are finished", "aye, well, we've got a plan like, how abouts we take the stadium, rip out the athletics bit, use it purely for football but spend a bit of money on slightly improving a much worse Crystal Palace athletics place?", "erm, nah, sounds a bit of a shit plan really"
They were never, ever going to win this one. TBH I preferred their idea since i fucking hate football stadiums with fucking athletics tracks round them, but still, destined to fail as soon as they wanted to use the stadium purely for football. And now West Ham are going to have a fucking massive stadium despite being shit. Likely to get relegated this season and, if that happens, it could be a while before they're back- they are nowhere near as well supported as Spurs and if relegated they could end up regretting taking on the stadium

Fact is athletics and football dont mix when it comes to stadiums. Football fans dont want to pay top dollar to be sat far away from the action simple as. The Spurs bid made sense for a football stadium and the West Ham bid made sense from a multi use standpoint but football was always going to be the loser if West Ham won it. If West Ham get relegated there is no way they fill a 60,000 seater week in week out the whole thing is a joke. this is what hammers fans will have to put up withsafcftm wrote:fuck themselves?stg wrote:If spurs do not re build at WHL now where do you think they could go?

What having a shiny new 60,000 stadium in london within pissing distance of the corporates also does is make one attractive for sugar daddy takeovers.StuartL wrote:Which is precisely why Gold, Sullivan and Brady "invested" in West Ham.
A nice little earner
Dont be surprised if in 4 years time west ham becomes a vanity project from oil barons in a made-up middle eastern country.
