We want our Arsenal back!!!!
Football has changed! Thats a fact, theres no argument to be made, only acceptance. It's moved from the working class to the middle class and in the process attracted the prawn sarnie brigade and lost it's culture. Football has become a global sport that every millionaire and billionaire wants to exploit. You cant blame them, they're businessmen and can see big money to be made. However amongst the day trippers and bagel munchers there are the genuine Arsenal fans. Fans who love the club. Fans who feel so passionate about their team are prepared to nearly bankrupt themselves by following The Arsenal. There are fans who so desperately want the team to win that they shout and sing as loud as they can words of encouragement in the hope that the twelfth man will assist in the winning goal. These fans create the atmosphere, these fans give their clubs their identity but these fans are also being forgoten.
Lets make our voices heard more than ever. Lets reclaim OUR Arsenal.
I loved everything about Highbury, every game I attended was always a privilage and The Home Of Football shall always be missed however football has a new home now and one which as impressive as it is in lacking identity other than that of all the corporate seating. WE need to give the club its identity.
I, like many others are fed up with hearing the same 3 songs every week and with very little effort from many fans. There's great work being done out there from groups such as RedAction and increasingly Block 19. They all need our support but more needs to be done. We have a new generation of fans and players so lets have a new generation of songs.
Lets bring back classics such as 'bejesus said paddy...' 'Drink, Drink together..' etc. keep going with 'We're th North bank..', 'Good old Arsenal...' etc. and get some new ones going. I know this is a long rant but those of us who have Arsenal close to their hearts need to do something before its too late. Lets start with songs to generate an atmosphere and then bring back flags, banners, scarfs, team colours and even inflatable bananas!!!
Am I a lone voice or do ppl feel the same????

As well as my long rant below are a few songs i have heard over the last few months that others may not have heard. Itd be great if other Gooners could add some more. Every player should have a song and not just american style chanting of their names like: 'Clichy, Clichy, Clichy' etc etc.
(To tune of Que Sara sara)
Gael Clichy Clichy!
He's Better than Ashley!
Lets give him the number 3!
Gael Clichy Clichy!
(To tune of 'We're the boys in red and white...')
Tempo slightly quicker
'Words Dont Rhyme with his name
Words dont rhyme with Belarus
But we dont give a dam 'cos he's Arsenal through and through
Oh he hates it on the wing
But defenders he does skin
And his name is Alexander Hleb!!!!!!!!
(Vieiras old tune)
Diaby Ohh Oh Diaby Ohh Oh
He's big and scarier
He's the new Vieira!
Diaby Ohh Oh Diaby Ohh Oh
(To tune of 'Robin Hood, Robin Hood')
Eboue! Eboue!
Running Down the wing!
Eboue! Eboue!
Playing out his skin!
He plays on the right,
He gives defenders fright!
Eboue...Eboue...

Great first post. Exactly how I feel.
I live in Dublin now and go back for all the home games and the odd away one. I am virtually skint every month because I'm paying Ryanair and National Rail stupid money just to get to the game. Then there's the €1,300 I pay for my ST. I love this Club and want to be the best in the world, with the best supporters.
I'm trying to think of some new songs for us to sing so have been scouring various other football clubs websites for ideas. The amount of Liverpool songs there are is unbelievable. They are not only chants, they are songs with 2 and 3 verses. We only have about 5 songs with most of them being about Tottenham and Ca$hley.
What about "Highbury Highs"? I liked that song and think everyone appreciates what it means to the Club.
There are so many Irish songs, with great tunes, which can be adapted (like Fields of Anfield Road) to the Arsenal. All we need to do now is get someone to put some lyrics to the tunes.
I also think that we need more flags and banners around the ground.
I'm sick of posting the same shit about how our fans are crap and how our Club is doing nothing to help the matter.

I'm sick to death of us all being pissed off at the way we're treated at home games. We have a beautiful new stadium- which, by all accounts shits all over Wembley cashpit- and a very loyal bunch of fans. What gets to me though, is the way we are banned from doing anything that might get a bit of atmosphere going. We can't have flags, we can't have banners, we can't have overhanger flags on the ledges and we can't sing aggressive songs in case we upset a few of the away fans or players.
We have waited too long to have a big stadium and it seems that the club would rather we all sat there with our arms folded.
Its no coincidence that Fabregas spent most of the season urging the fans on whilst taking corners because at times the noise level was pretty poor. Where I sit, in block 12, we get a good rebound from the red section, but if nobody else joins in the songs or chants, the noise soon dies down.
Quite frankly, I think the time has come for us to take matters into our own hands and by-pass the Arsenal killjoys. We should simply put our banners, flags and homemade slogans on display next season. If they are to be taken down, we can just take them back and put them up the next home game too. I reckon that the club would soon cave in as it would lead to adverse publicity from their own fans.
We need to remind the club that it's our team, our love and our Arsenal.

good call on teh announcer, has been in place for 2-3 seasons now so would take some removing
Another thing tehy could loose is drowning the stadiun out with music before kick offs. When the players come out its good, but the noice just stops people singing
At highbury northbank woudl alsways sing each players song before teh game till tehy got a clap, ant do that with all the music at teh grove

I would definately be in favour banners and flags. We shouldn't keep comparing ourselves to the mickey mousers but liverpool have had some great banners over the years. It'd be great to see banners dedicated to Rocky and other Highbury Highs. I'm definately going to get one for next season. The stewards can keep taking the odd one or two down but if there were loads scattered around, what could they do? As long as they aren't offensive they cant confiscate them.
I also agree about field of dreams. Although theres no way we could begin to sing a scouse song it would be good to have one of our own. Im starting to get bored of 'We're by far the greatest team...' every other song.
Let's creat a real atmosphere to intimidate the opposition and encourage Arsene's Red and white army!!

Chants
Have to agree with the thread that the prawn sarnie brigade are now in the ascendance and we have to take our club back!
The problem I have is that Redaction do a fine job but as I sit in a few blocks over from them I do notice a sense of superiority from them. For example when another quadrant ( I hate that word - can we have ends, banks or Kops please!) starts up a chant , it apears that the Red action crowd don't want to join in. This may be because they didn't start the song but it never the less takes away a sense of unity and is elitist. Is it only me or do others think the same thing?

We need a new chant for Walcott, 'england' style chanting "theo, theo theo" isnt enough in my opinion.
How about this to the tune of the old Trio chocolate bar advert. Here for all those that cant remember it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zg3TTzhZ ... ed&search=#
"THE-O, THEEE-EE-EEEO,
THEO WALCOTT LOVES THE AR-SE-NAL!"
Flags and banners are a great way of improving the colour and vibrancy of the stadium- some original ones aswell would be preferable to the standard St George with 'ARSENAL' written across the middle.
