drinking in view of the pitch

Having been to Twickenham recently I was intrigued by the fact that you are not only allowed to take drink into to the ground but that the stewards actually encourage you to do it.
I tried to leave my remaining guinness at the entrance to the stand only for the steward to laugh and say 'you mst be a football fan!'.
This led REDaction to contact their friendly local legal guru and the law actually does state that it is only at 'soccer' matches / stadiums that no drinking is allowed within sight of the pitch.
Our thinking is that there maybe some 'human rights' issue here as it would appear that we are being treated as 2nd class citizens (no change there then). We are investigating that angle of attack further in the coming months.
Our representative on the fans forum has mentioned it there already, but he was met with the argument that people would not want others constantly going back and forth from the seats to get a beer and disturbing everyone all the time (by another forum member not the club).

This is a crazy rule & never even knew it existed until the West Ham game earlier in the season. Got given a club level ticket & was cramming in as many free half time drinks as possible! The 2nd half kicked off & while finishing up i was peering through the patio doors watching the opening exchanges, steward asked me to move literally 5 foot to the left as as he said it was a criminal offence to drink alcohol while you can see the pitch. What?!?! I couldn't believe what i was hearing!
That won't happen if they don't sell alcohol during (most of) playing time.alanalansunderland wrote:.....

All people want is to take a beer to their seat. No doubt some people will want to stockpile 2 or 3 and end up spoiling it for others.
LOL, that's ridiculous. Although I just realised I did this last Saturday, was finishing my pint and looking through the entrance to the block to see if they'd kicked off yet.mike wrote:This is a crazy rule & never even knew it existed until the West Ham game earlier in the season. That's why we get these guys to pour drinks in the stands, like they do in Germanyalanalansunderland wrote:Our representative on the fans forum has mentioned it there already, but he was met with the argument that people would not want others constantly going back and forth from the seats to get a beer and disturbing everyone all the time (by another forum member not the club).

Re: drinking in view of the pitch
You did fuck all wrong mate, get that attitude out your head straight away. Fight the wankers all the way and dont be saying shit like 'i was in the wrong, it was my fault etc'.minty99 wrote:last night at the match like a total idiot i was arrested for drinking in view of the pitch (can of lager) and drunk and disorderley.
was taken to the police station and am due to appear in highbury magistates court next week.
whilst at the police station i fully coperated and admitted the charge.
There is no excuse for this and it was totally my fault.
What i need to know has it happened to anyone else on here and whats the worst that can happen to me.
any advice greatly recieved.
cheers
I cannot believe that someone did say something to the stewards, what kind of wanker grasses up a fellow Arsenal supporter, genuinely shocked at some of the dickheads we get in that ground.enjibenji wrote:ive seen a guy get down at the emirates for smoking some bob marley at half time.
the thing that makes me laugh even more though was did he really think that not one person around him was going to say to the stewards, fucking idiot
I remember standing in the Clock End it would always stink of weed.
