Emirates Stadium Possible Expansion to 100,000 Seats

local authority height restriction on what arsenal were allowed to build means the height will never increase beyond what it is now. it's the reason the roof is so odd, blocking the view of the whole stadium for those in the rows towards the back (and sight of one of the screens for a lot of people in the upper tier)

although architecturally possible to expand (a la old trafford) because it is in a residential area, it can't go any higher. get used to 60,000 - unless standing is re-introduced - the numbers aren't going up

Geting out of the ground is already a joke. How could we cope with another 20,000 or 40,000?

Couldn't the upper tier corners where the screens and adjacent corners be expanded into seats? This would then leave the roof at the same level.

Capacity will NEVER go above the current 60,000!!

I was on the Fans Forum from 2005 - 2007 when the stadium was being built and we got several tours round as it was nearing completion. On one tour our guides were Keith Edelman and the man in overall charge of the building project (can't remember his name).

Several people asked if the stadium could ever be made larger. The answer was an emphatic NO! from the ex Managing Director and the bloke in charge of building the thing. The design of the stadium makes expansion impossible unless it is knocked down and rebuilt.

I don't know where this story has come from but it's 60,000 now and it will always be 60,000.

I think the attendance at the Leyton Orient game will shed more light on this. Another 40K empty seats would look even worse!!

More affordable ? This would be a move to rake in money so dont believe for a nano-second that the seats will be cheap. Agreed. I think there would be some cheaper seasting just because they could afford to then - but at what coest in the interim? Do they they really think there 100,000 Gooners ready to just pay prices they largely can't afford to see us fight for a Europa League place?

Or would just a way to push the club's share value up further while staving off cricism by insisting that by the time we're done we can buy both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - never mind that they be over 35 by then....

...I really hope this is just some bullshit piece

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that 60,000 was also a limit from a Health & safety point of view with regards to the maximum influx of people that the local area could safely handle.

He actually works for the club.

His name is Gerts van de Schaaffe, and is a native of Belgium.
He meets Wenger 90 mins before kick off.
Wenger picks a colour: Blue, Green, Red, or Yellow, by touching the multi coloured chest plate.

Gerts has allotted a colour to each keeper, but keeps the choices secret.

Currently Red is Szczesny, Yellow Almunia, Green Martinez and Blue is Shea. White is for when Wenger lets Gert choose.

Depending on what colour Wenger picks, is who plays in goal.

Gerts also helps Rob the Chef clean work tops in the training ground kitchen, but only when the meal has included Brussels Sprouts.
