Cannon Club

Post by 1886 »

I rejoined Junior Gunners in November 2009. I will still be 16 at the start of the 2011/12 season. Does this mean I will still be a junior gunner for next season or will I move up to cannon club?
If I do reach the age for cannon club will I qualify? As I joined in November, halfway through the 09/10 season instead of in August before the season had started.

Any answers very appreciated.

My understanding is you need 2 full seasons before they will give you Cannon Club.

Sorry forgot to mention that.
I will still be 16 on 31st Aug 2011. But the club dosn't make it clear whether JG is for people aged 16 or younger, or if 15 years is the cut off

I just rang the club and the person on the end of the phone said I'd be a red member next season. (although he was rather dismissive and didn't really listen to my question)

But arsenal.com says regarding memberships for 10/11 season:
" For boys and girls aged 12 - 16 (16 years or younger on 31st August 2010"

1886 I think you'll be alright for Junior Gunner membership for next season. My son turned 17 halfway through this year. He was already 16 when he renewed JG membership last season.
Good Luck

Junior Gunner. You have to be 17 to be a CC member.

Am I right in saying that you have to be at least 2 seasons as a Junior Gunner before you can become a Cannon Club member for 1 season and then you become a Silver member.

So if a kid turns 15 this summer his next few seasons will look like this

2011/2012 Junior Gunner. 15 at start of season
2012/2013 Junior Gunner. 16 at start of season
2013/2014 Cannon Club. 17 at start of season
2014/2015 Silver Member. 18 at start of season

Hello fellow Junior Gunner. I remember going to JG games at Highbury for a fiver back in the day. I shudder to think what it costs now. I still have all my scarves, rosettes and pennants (not the useless jermaine type, the other one).

3 questions for you

1) What is the Cannon club?
2) Do the JG still do that quarterly fanzine where you got your name and birthday shout printed in 1mm size insignificant writing, but were still well happy about?
3) Do you still get a free signed picture of a player?

Thanks for your answers everyone. Very appreciated. After seeing the responses I decided to ring Arsenal again because the bloke on the phone in my first call was disinterested in my call to say the least.
I tired my luck again and thankfully I was put onto someone who actually knew what they were talking about :)
She said that I would be JG for next season and a Cannon club member after that, as 11/12 will be my 2nd consecutive season, she even double checked this with the JG manager.

This is great news as having red membership would be a nightmare for a 16 year old, the lowest price is £35 I think.

Thanks again for your help everyone.

Cannon club is an extra level of membership for people aged 17 - 18. It is equivilant to silver membership but tickets are discounted to student prices.
I get only 1 fanzine per season (as far as I can remember) It's mainly aimed for up to 11 years I'd say, and no birthdays sadly.
But you do get sent a birthday card and a £3 club shop voucher
No signed picture either.

£5 for a ticket at Highbury sounds fantastic, but JG prices are not as bad as you might think. £13.50 isn't too bad for JG. It rises to £14.50 for Cannon club.

I remember paying £2.50 to stand in the Junior Gunners enclosure in front of the west stand.

The free signed photos were great. They were always advertised as just a photo so the autograph always seemed like a bonus.

I got Groves, Thomas, Adams, Smith, and others I've forgotten.

When Arsenal was my Arsenal

Does anyone know if new cannon club members receive a new membership card for this season or are they able to use their existing Junior Gunner membership card to gain entry to the ground?
Anybody been through this process?
